Reviewed March 13, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

When we arrived it was late but there was fresh scones butter jam and a bottle of red wine waiting for us, the heating had been put on and the place was clean and tidy, the beds were freshly made, I slept like a baby, the bed and the saroundings were so comfortable.when I opened the curtains in the morning,My goodness, the views........ Oh beautiful! You can go for a beautiful walk, pop into the pub that's about 2mins walk the cafe is right next to the coach house that my son and I stayed in we loved it. I'm t would be perfect for a painting holiday or just a rest ,or you could walk or do what ever, you will need a car to go out and about. It's perfect :-)

“spacious and comfortable right on the riverside”
Reviewed July 23, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The house is very nicely appointed, with 3 sofas and log-burning stove in the sitting room, separate fully fitted kitchen with dining table, access to walled courtyard area with patio tables and chairs and bbq, private to the 3 self catering units. The building stands perpendicular to the river with the cafe and owners section at the river end. The coach house is part of the taller section of the building. The parking is fine. Very handy having lovely cafe to hand, open 11am til 6pm, except Mondays. This does mean there is some level of activity but it didn't bother us at all. The owners are most helpful without being intrusive. They very kindly did not charge for use of bicycles. The area is well worth visiting for walking locally or in the Black Stairs and Brandon Hill, river activities like swimming, canoeing/kayaking, walking the tow path to Graiguenamanagh, historic houses and gardens, not to mention the Norman motte and bailey and 6th century monastic remains. The river is very beautiful, especially in the morning quiet when the birds swoop and dip over the water.

“Beautiful location, comfortable house, great owners”
Reviewed June 21, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We were greeted with scones with butter and jam, a bottle of wine, and vase full of wildflowers! Martin and Emer really pay attention to their guests and that - and the location - makes The Old Grain Store Cottages special. Everything in the cottage works well - including a clothes washer/dryer that actually dries the clothes - everything is spotlessly clean, and the kitchen has all the basics. There is also a grill available for use in the enclosed garden.
The setting is idyllic, right on the river Barrow. You can spend quiet evening hours sitting by the river with your glass of wine watching the light change on the foliage and water. Or take a short walk up the hill, past the historic St. Mullins cemetery and monastery ruins, and ancient motte, and have a pint at the pub. Or, if you are a walker, stroll the river path all the way to "Graigs" (Graiguenamanagh), about 5 miles. Martin and Emer and their son run Mullichain Cafe on the site - open 2-6 pm, delicious lunch-style fare - and it gets fairly busy on weekends, as the area is very popular with local fishermen and visitors to the historic sites. But it is never too crowded. St. Mullins is also convenient for visiting Kilkenny, Jerpoint Abbey, Clonmel, etc. It's about 1.5 hours to Rock of Cashel.
We loved this rental and this area and plan on returning.

“Superb Essence Of Ireland”
Reviewed September 17, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

St, Mullins is a magical place on the River Barrow. It combines the peaceful serenity of a river valley but at the same time , one is able to interact with the Irish people. We would never stay anywhere else when we visit the "sunny southeast." Martin, Emer and Mark O'Brien are wonderful hosts and the self-catering triplex is very clean and comfortable. High praises for theis wonderful retreat.

The nicest hosts possible. They were warm, entertaining and charming. The cottages give enough privacy too and we cooked, ate and entertained in style. From hiking, to biking to Canadian kayaking they provided us with info and activities to fill the long weekend. The complementary bottle of wine and scones didn't last through the 1st evening. Love every minute of it, truly a hidden gem.

Have faith when leaving the motorway to find St Mullins...you will question yourself but after turning down past church / mote you will realise why its such a treasure. Looking forward to bringing some friends back later in year.

“Gorgeous location, beautiful accommodation - thoroughly recommend it!”

We - my Mum, partner and our dog - stayed for a wonderful week in the Coach house. Stunning location next to the river, monastery ruins and of course the Mullichain Cafe. The accommodation was really comfortable with two large bedrooms, comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen and cosy lounge room. We cooked most of our evening meals and had every thing we needed - equipment wise. One bedroom has a full en suite but the second just a toilet and sink with a second shower on the ground floor. Great hot water supply. Nice and warm on the rainy days with a wood burning stove as well as the heating. The downstairs wet room was very handy for washing the dog! Lots of picnic tables along the River bank or up on the grass so easy to find a spot in the sun (if it's shining!).
