Arguably a bit off the beaten path, this is a hotel in a lovely position, overlooking the Severn valley, near Abermule. We made the mistake of thinking the front entrance was the grand facade on the nice terrace, but it's actually at the side, but once in, we were made to feel very welcome by the owners. The hotel was quiet, and doesn't have a bar, just an "honesty" fridge in the spacious living room, which was soon replenished once we'd consumed a few beers watching the FA Cup final ! We were on a cycling tour around Wales and had sent our bags forward in a taxi, and they were safely kept, and we were able to stores our bkes securely. Dinner was very good, and the breakfast equally fine - all freshly cooked to order.
The rooms were large, although a little tired, the (internal) bathroom could have been better lit, and there was a slight smell of mustiness in the main hotel, but overall it was a really nice overnight stay.

Lovely drive down to the hotel, and excellent setting. Rooms a little tired but not expensive. Good breakfast in lovely dining room. Worth all the money and a home from home. I found the staff very helpful and friendly on a query. Could not have done more.

The staff here, well one in particular, are incredibly rude - and refuse to understand that if you pay for a stay in advance on Booking.com, that means that it is paid for & should not be paid for again - phonecalls are hung up upon - very rude staff indeed

What a fantastic place to stay.
The location is excellent. The Hotel rooms our large immaculately clean with all amenities. The food is freshly cooked and piping hot. The hoteliers, Keith and Sheryl greet you with a warm welcome, and nothing is too much trouble.
If you are in this area, this is a must stay at hotel.

Had the best of welcome with tea provided in the Residents Lounge and the open log fire was lit for our comfort. The evening meal was good as was the ample breakfast. The shower lacked pressure but this is a minor gripe compared to the welcome received.
