The Team at The Long Arms are amazing, from the smooth reservation process to the friendly service and overall the fantastic FOOD!!! We were a party of 9 and the food was simply faultess, several members of my family had not been before and were blown away but what appears to be a simple "pub", but actually its much more than that! The Menu is interesting and intriguing, and the puddings (!!!) Well, you just have to go and see for yourself! Thank you again for making a very special day just that bit extra Special! ("and your main?" ... "Suzie!" - I'm still chuckling about this!)

Had been wanting to try this place for a while as had heard a lot of good things.

Simple decor, tables etc, hides the fact that this place serves an excellent Sunday lunch and is well worth a visit.

Book early!

Evening meal with family and friends in a 'local' pub. Good range of beers and excellent food. We tried the lamb and pork bellies, very good. Disappointed that it did not come with more vegetables.

We two met up with an old undergraduate friend and her husband for dinner as the finale to my 70th birthday week celebrations. Our friends wanted to know which day was the 'real' birthday, so I admitted it was that day. What I did not know was that a member of the Team overheard. However later they checked if it really was my birthday.

We skipped starters in favour of pudding, but were treated to bread to nibble - Sourdough and beetroot rolls. Lovely! We then ate King Oyster Mushrooms, Braised Organic Lamb and Twice Baked Old Winchester Souffle. Was it good? Well nothing was left on any plates and some were wiped with bread to get the very last of the gravy. Full marks all round.

For pudding we had a single scoop of Passion Fruit Sorbet, Amalfi Lemon Curd, Wild plum Parfait and Valrhona caribe 60% chocolate tart. The latter came with special presentation (See photo). In eating it was superb and probably stands as the chocolate tart against which all others will now be compared. Were the other puds good? They were all greatly appreciated and consumed to the very last drop.

We were quietly and efficiently looked after by the Team in a nice friendly manner. They were not bothered that we spent far too much time chatting and not making menu choices. Another plus was the total lack of Musak so we were able to hear each other and carry on conversations at a civilised volume.

We shall try to go back but I fear it will not be soon as it is more than 150 miles from where we live. I suspect our friends are local and regulars which is why they chose this venue for our outing. Lucky them.

We visited the Longs Arms based on a recommendation. Good thing we booked for lunch as restaurant on Friday full. The service was first class, the ale superb and the food excellent. The duck cakes were delightful, the lamb and meat pie were a joy with every mouthful and the fondant as good if not better than that served by a Michelin starred restaurant. Our granddaughter enjoyed the raspberry sorbet so much so she had to have a second portion. The only criticism if there is one is that the coffee could be slightly stronger. Will definitely return.
