This hotel has retained an old world charm. While it is a bit worse for wear here and there, this does not take from its warmth and relaxed feeling. The open fires in the lobby and bar are lovely and its decor has the feeling of staying in a large town house. The staff are lovely and the bar food is wholesome. The location is a bonus too as Listowel has a lovely town square. The bedrooms seem to vary in size and decor though, so it might help to check the type of room before you book. Over all it is a very pleasant place to stay.

Room Tip: Check the room size before you book

We had our wedding reception at the Listowel Arms Hotel in March, 2012 and it was a truly excellent experience. In cordinating the reception, Patrice absolutely took all stress and difficulties out of the preparations. She even helped us pick the wedding band! In travelling to the hotel from the West, the coast rood is a beaufifully scenic journey on a bright, sunny day. Personally, we wanted to have our reception in a hotel character, history and period charm. If sterile, corporate-style hotels are your thing, Listowel Arms is not for you. For us, the Listowel Arms was perfect, beautifully decorated on the "Big Day", and has a natural warmth which resonated with so many guests! We had a number of last minutes requests which were all handled coolly, calmly and without fuss. Food was fantastic and the whole occasion ran as smoothly as a Swiss clock - obviously, due in no small part to meticulous planning on the part of the hotel staff. There is a nice, elevated level to the rear of the hotel which overlooks the river, bridge and racetrack - a nice, relaxing place to enjoy a few summer drinks. I would highly recommend this hotel as a wedding venue. Huge thanks to Patrice, Kevin and all the staff for making it such an amazing day on our behalf.

I stayed here with my partner last weekend, Apr 21st 2012. This was my second stay here in the last year. If you want to be transported in time to a previous era, this is the place for you.
The aura of tranquility that envelopes you as soon as you enter the foyer with its nooks and crannies, the gilted picture frames on the wall, the low reading lamps and the old fireplaces is palpable.
We were on an overnight stay with breakfast and it was thoroughly enjoyable. There is a well appointed bar serving food all day long and from what I hear, a very good restaurant, although we didn't partake of dinner. Check out the open air seating area at the rear, which looks out on the racecourse and the lovely River Feale. The rooms are very comfortable and have all the facilities one would expect.
If I had one small negative, I would say that the bar service can be a trite slow at times, but then again, you dont come to Listowel for the fast pace of living!!

We stayed in the Listowel Arms for one night when attending a wedding in April. The hotel is located right in the town square and has some parking to the back of the hotel which can be tricky to find but call the hotel and they can direct you.

The staff were amazing during our stay, they immediately approached us and offered us champagne and canapes while we waited to check in. Our room was basic enough and the decor is dated but it was clean and fresh so we had no complaints. The general rooms on the ground floor are very homely and relaxing and I would have loved to have stayed on an extra night just to enjoy the lounge and bar areas and the open fire.

Breakfast was cooked to order and was very fresh with a small selection of cerals and juices on the buffet area.

I can't stress enough how professional and friendly all staff in the Listowel Arms were and I would highly recommend a stay in this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing, tradition, Irish hotel in Kerry.

We had our wedding reception at the Listowel Arms Hotel on Friday December 30th 2011. From the moment we first met Patrice, the wedding coordinator, we knew it was the perfect location for us and it really exceeded our expectations. The hotel was beautifully decorated, with a real festive and welcoming feel to it, and the room itself looked amazing. There is an in-house florist who makes the most beautiful floral arrangements for the tables. All our guests commented on how fabulous the food was and how it was the best meal by far they had ever had at a wedding reception. The bridal suite was also amazing and all the guests rooms were beautifully decorated in an old country house style kind of way. I would highly recommend this hotel as a wedding venue. Big thanks again to Patrice and all the staff for such an amazing day.
