When we arrived in Kenmare it was the first (and only) time the B&B we selected was fully booked. But the lady there gave us the address of Hawthorn House. And we didn´t regret it. Mary, the landlady of Hawthorn House, is extraordinary friendly. The rooms are tidy, big enough and free WiFi is available. The breakfast was really fantastic. Hawthorn House is located in the centre of Kenmare so you can reach everything by walking. We really enjoyed our visit there.

This was our 4th stay at Hawthorn House. Mary is one of our favorite hosts with a very outgoing and fun personality. The location is excellent in the heart of Kenmare and a perfect base to use for the Ring of Kerry. Rooms are very clean and breakfast was great. Looking forward to staying there again!

We arrived in Kenmare quite late on a Saturday evening and could not find any centrally located hotel available, our luck was in,we fortunedly pointed in the direction of Hawthorn House.one could not ask for better. The bedroom was large and confortable with a very good bathroom. When Mary heard that I would like to see a rugby world cup in the morning she ensured we had a room with an excellent T.V. A breakfast of scrambled eggs and freshly home smoked salmon plus delicious freshly baked brown bread,to die for.The location in centre of town is perfect, overall I cannot think of anything even slightly negative and will definedly be back.

This was defintely a highlight of our 2 1/2 week stay in Ireland. Mary made us feel so comfortable and at home the minute we arrived. The breakfast was fantastic! The room was quite large and lots of amenities! She has loads of energy and lots of suggestions that made teh stay perfect. Everything is within walking distance! i would highly recommend a stay here and will definitely return!

Wonderful! Mary was the best host in all of the places we stayed in Ireland. The Hawthorn House was lovely and the room was great. Mary serves a fantastic breakfast with lots of good cheer to go with the orange juice. The location is within easy walking distance to everything in Kenmare and at the start of the astounding Ring of Beara. This gets our highest recommendation.

Mary O'Brian and her husband are fabulous hosts. Hawthorn house is centrally located and an easy walk to everything. Clean rooms and a really really good shower...hot water with a good stream. Breakfast was great. Only con is that you can hear everything that goes on in the adjacent bedrooms...but that is to be expected at any b&b.

The location is close to the main street so once the car is parked, no driving required! Room was a nice size but my negative is that the carpet was so dirty it made me "suspicious" of the lodging -- you know the feeling, "should I walk on this without my shoes?" The owner strongly recommened dinner at Packies and that truly was the very best meal of our two weeks in Ireland--try it, reservations required. Also, they catch and smoke their own salmon and it was exceptional -- eggs with smoked salmon, yum. Good location for starting your drive of the Ring of Kerry.
