My wife, two young children (6 and 4) have just returned from a weekend stay in Doire Farm. We went as an anniversary vacation as we spent our Honeymoon here 6 years ago. If we had forgotten how great the whole experience was, we were very quickly reminded. From the moment we walked in the door it felt like coming home, back to somewhere we knew and loved. Anne, the host, well, words don't do her justice, you have to experience her hospitality first hand. She knew we were coming with our two children so she catered accordingly, left a few treats there for them, and she knew my wife and i were on an anniversary weekend and so she left a few little bits for us too, real personal, thoughtful touches that just lift the experience onto the next level of customer care. The cottage (John's cottage) was spotless, very well equipped, all mod cons, bedrooms very comfortable, cottage very warm and cosy, we LOVED the real fire, which Anne kept well provided with wood and briquettes. Jacuzzi bath which is a great touch, very romantic and special. Lovely peaceful location too, so relaxing, you can hear nothing there, completely peaceful.
Cost was very affordable too for the experience, well worth it and a real good choice for families and especially couples looking for a quiet romantic weekend away. Kenmare is 5-10 minutes drive away which has very nice cafe's, walks etc to spend the daytime.
In summary, i couldn't recommend Doire farm highly enough, I really couldn't. If anything, for the hospitality alone. Anne is the perfect host and she deserves to be lauded for the wonderful establishment she has here. We're already counting down the days until we can visit again, as it means alot for us as a family to know somewhere we can go that feels as familiar and homely as Doire Farm.

Just back from a week long stay in one of the 3 bed cottages at Doire Farm and I would recommend it without hesitation. The cottage was spotless, very well equipped with everything we needed and was very cosy. Anne is the perfect hostess and with her husband Patrick and family they make you feel very welcome. The location is great for travelling around Kenmare and beyond. Really enjoyed out stay and hope to go back

The cottages are spotless and have everything a person could want. Their location is perfect. A short drive to kenmare with a shop even closer in kilgarvan village. It's a safe secluded spot that was so peaceful. The icing on the cake are the lady who runs the cottages and her family.. they go well far and beyond the standard expected.. there is a fantastic atmosphere and they represent brilliant value for money.. we will definitely be back!!

Our first time in Ireland, this was an ideal location to explore the Southwest Coast of the country. The cottage is clean, cozy and comfortable, offered everything we needed. Anne and Patrick are great hosts, very friendly and attentive and the family dog too. :) We spent two weeks here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return in the near future. ~ Suli & Don from CA.

My husband and I have travelled and stayed in many self catering cottages, and from experience there are many factors that are important.

The most important (for us) and unfortunately not highly spoken about in these types of reviews is the shower! If you are a walker and have had a long hot, sweaty day, .....or a wet cold rainy day, the most important thing you look forward to at the end of the days travel, is a good long hot shower with fabulous pressure. The last thing you need to do is run around in a shower several times just to try and get wet, or run out of hot water!

For any female with long thick hair, a hot strong shower pressure is essential. As this is now priority when I travel, I base this as a VERY important feature of any Cottage rental. It is the deciding factor of whether I stay one week or two!

Doire Farm Cottages has the Lot!! We stayed in"Pa's Cottage", for a week and would have extended to three weeks had the cottage not already been booked out! There is so much to see and do in the area, especially if you are walkers!

It is immaculately set out, with all the facilities you need, incredibly clean, warm (Very important for us Australian's) and central to exploring the 5 Peninsulas of the south west cost of Ireland.

Ann and Patrick are fabulous and more than happy to help accomodate you. They truely are lovely, down to earth, genuine people.

We will miss Charlie (the bolder collie) and our play sessions, and we won't tell Ann where you hide your bones. We would not hesitate to come back!
