Our staff travelled to Dingle to celebrate our principal retiring in his birth place. In June, I made contact with the hotel to reserve rooms for October, straight away it was hassle free and Caren in reservations took over with a plan on how best to accommodate our 40 guests and their bookings.
Caren was always proactive in making contact with me to ensure everything was running smoothly and on track. She gave us advise on activities we could do in Dingle during our stay and phone numbers of local taxis that could ferry our guests from Tralee train station to Dingle.
Upon our arrival, we were welcomed with the Céad mile fáilte Ireland is renowned for. Our guest of honour was upgraded to a suite with champagne and treats upon arrival. The rooms were clean and modern with views of the wild Atlantic.
Breakfast in the Skellig is worth getting up for!! Unfortunately on the day of the trip, we learned of the sad passing of a gent with close links to the school. I emailed Caren to tell her we would be checking out early on the Sunday to return for the funeral a 3 and half hour drive away. She immediately rang me, passed on her condolences and arranged to have the breakfast room to be open 30 minutes early to ensure we were all feed before we headed on the road.
On the Saturday, many of us availed of the complimentary use of the outdoor hot tub – with treats and refreshments, sauna and steam room – a pure luxury!!
We all dined in the hotel restaurant that night. We had a separate eating area looking over the Wild Atlantic! Complimentary Champagne was served to us all upon arrival at the restaurant.
Overall, I could not say enough good things about our experience in Dingle. It is a special place, with special people and lovely nooks and cranny’s to explore. The Skellig is a gem and a must to stay in if your travels are taking you to Dingle!
