Looking at the sea, walking the dog, walking with my child and his dad, close to the beach. Divine views and a sense of freedom I don't get anywhere else

James fort is sadly closed, but you can have a nice walk around the isthmus and a lovely pint in the Dock pub!. The dock beach is very secluded and family friendly worth a visit !

This is an interesting change to the more popular Charles Fort across the harbour. The views are nice and its easier to find a bit of peace and quiet up here. The Fort itself is all locked up so you can only walk around the outside and there is no information provided up there so you dont get to learn a lot from it. Also a lot of locals come here to empty their dog so you'd better watch your step.
However, I think its not too far out of the way and it is a nice walk around the headland so if your in Kinsale go and see it but dont go out of your way to come here.

A good walk but not as large as Charles Fort so if you don't have much time, Charles Fort would be a better choice. However if you are walking the dog, it is lovely up there !
