We stayed at the Station House for 4 nights in March and were very happy with our choice. The staff were without exception friendly and helpful and the room was modern and very comfortable with a king size bed and a good bathroom. Everywhere was smart and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was included and it was excellent, the well- cooked 'full Irish' had quality bacon and sausages and kept us going all day. The hotel is a short walk from the shops and restaurants in Clifden and close to 2 supermarkets for picnic lunches. We particularly enjoyed the food and good service in the Station bar, part of the hotel and situated just opposite the entrance. They served absolutely delicious home made soups and a range of meals, from lunchtime to 9pm, all the ones we tried were excellent and we found it to be better value than most of the restaurants in the town. The bar is converted from an old station building and has open fires and a cosy ambience. We didn't use the spa, it looked good but seemed to be often in use for children's swimming lessons, a good facility for the community rather than a private hotel pool. The hotel is a good base for exploring the stunning scenery of Connemara by car, the nearby Clifden sky road is spectacular on a clear day. A word of warning though, the main road through the area is appalling, very bumpy and bendy apart from a few renovated stretches. You don't get anywhere quickly and if you have children who get car sick you'd better take a bucket! Apart from that this is a beautiful area and when we return we will certainly be staying at the Station House Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard

We have just returned from two nights at the Station House hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here. The food in both the bar and restaurant was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be returning !!

Myself and my wife have just returned from a 3 night bank holiday weekend stay at this hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough.Manager Nigel Craughwell and his wife Sinead went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant stay, and this ethos was also reflected in the friendly and courteous manner of all the staff.Excellent food quality, central location and fine leisure centre.I would say that this was probably the most enjoyable hotel experience we have ever had and recommend it highly to one and all.

I was travelling through Ireland with 3 friends of mine in September, and we choose to stay here for 3 nights. We expected to get an appartment. When we arrived, we were really blown away. This wasn't an appartment, this was a little house! The rooms were like hotelrooms, really clean and spacious, the kitchen also very clean and equipped with the necessary stuff. We paid here the same price as we paid in a youth hostel, but this was so much better. Also, there are two great supermarkets nearby. One negative remark could be that if you don't have a car, it is a bit far from everything, but you can make very beautiful bike tours in the connemara.

we stayed at the station house over the weekend.....everything was top class! it was my second visit to this hotel over the past 18 months. staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. food was excellent! the package we got was fantastic! leisure facilities are great with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna etc... perfect if the weather isnt so good outside! rooms were spacious with bath ensuite! and more than enough toiletries! cant wait to visit again very soon.

Room Tip: all rooms seem to be of the same high standard and all are very quite from our experience as i staye...

Stayed here over new year for one night, got a very good (140pp room, bb and dinner)
Location of hotel is dead central in the town lots of trad pubs around and amazing scenery.
Room was ok a little small, but we were not spending much time in the room anyway, dinner was amazing for a package deal with a 5 course meal and breakfast was pretty good too, would defiantly stay again but maybe go for a suite next time as the room was a bit small

Room Tip: go for a suite
