If you ever happen to be travelling through the town of Bantry on the south west coast of Ireland, be sure to call in to The Snug pub and restaurant in the main square for a meal that will keep you satisfied for the rest of the day. The freshly prepared meals of locally produced meats and fish are excellent and the atmosphere is special. Seating is a bit cramped, but if anything, this just adds to the whole experience. Overhearing conversations among your fellow diners, you get a real feeling of how small the world is from the accents surrounding you. You might be waiting for a table but make sure you give your name to the staff and you'll be looked after in rotation. 2 courses are more than enough, either starter and main or main and desert, with a pint of your choice to wash it all down. Go on, make a note of it, THE SNUG, BANTRY.

As the heading suggests the portions here are large to say the least. Simply the best sirloin I've ever had whilst eating out in Ireland.

We'd eaten at The Snug in Bantry before and sought it out for the steak again. All four of us had the fillet. None of us were disappointed. We were quite specific about how we wanted our (huge 350g) steaks done and each one was exactly as we'd asked. The accompanimets were lovely too, and all superbly cooked and piping hot. The staff were lovely. If you're in the West Cork area, you gotta seek out The Snug. You won't be disappointed. Value was very good too by the way.

This bar serves the best pub grub I've had in a very long time. The atmosphere is great, this is a real authentic old style Irish pub with great food that is reasonably priced, portions are huge! Highly recommended.
