“Beautiful hotel....excellent value!”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed one night in the fabulous Tulfarris Hotel with dinner included.
Beautiful location, really friendly staff, great service.
Spectacular views from the restaurant, which could be appreciated even on a wet day. Dinner was delicious, really filling. The Caesar salad starter was one of the best I've had for some time! All fresh, crisp ingredients.
The buffet breakfast was really good....steaming hot food....nothing dried out looking. Good coffee too!
Our room was a pleasant surprise......big and spacious, with a generous sized bathroom. The bathroom had underfloor heating.......wonderful!!! Decor throughout was very tasteful, giving a feeling of restful calm.
Highly recommend the Tulfarris.
Thank you!

Good Afternoon Maria

Thank you for your great review. It is a great pleasure to work with a team like we have at Tulfarris as they give all they can to ensure that our guests have a great time. You can have the most beautiful hotel in the world but without the customer care you have nothing.
Im delighted that the food and surroundings lived up to expectations and beat them in some instances.
We look forward to seeing you again

Kind Regards
Mark

Myself and my partner had a great night in Tulfarris last weekend - Excellent value for money - a lovely spacious suite, three course meal and breakfast for €150. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the staff very friendly - the ice cream in the Tulfarris Mess dessert was out of this world! The music in the bar that evening was lovely. The one minor complaint was the suite being very warm when we arrived and some noise in the corridoor - but overall a great spot to get away and relax. The surroundings are lovely with amazing walks and views of the lake. Played a bit of tennis too(had to bring our own rackets - outdoor court). No other leisure facilities, apart from the golf of course.

Good Afternoon Kraks122

Im so glad that you had a great time in the hotel and even had the weather to play some Tennis. We do provide rackets at reception for our guests but I guess if you are avid players then your own rackets will only suffice.

I have passed on your ice cream comment to our Sous Chef Brian whom makes the ice cream, he was particularly thankful as this is a speciality of his.

Hopefully we will see you again in a slightly cooler Tulfarris

Kind Regard

Myself and my husband stayed at this hotel last weekend and absolutely loved it. The rooms are very spacious with flatscreen TV and beds are very comfortable. When we arrived, there was a small issue with a low buzzing noise from the fuse box in our room. The staff attended to it immediately and offered to change us to another room with such courtesy. The receptionist and all the staff have been the friendliest that we have encountered in any hotel. We availed of a special including an evening meal on the Saturday night. The food was absolutely excellent with a great selection of wines. We had the bar menu on Friday night and Sunday before we left and it was excellent food. I don't know where else you would get such good value for money. Highly Recommend and will be back!

I've just had a one-night stay eith my partner in Tulfarris hotel.. We had a voucher deal for bed & breakfast in a suite with a bottle of prosecco on arrival. We were immediately impressed upon arrival by the stunning setting. Our suite was enormous with the sitting area totally separate with a small kitchenette & a terrace overlooking the golf course and forests & mountains in the distance. We dined early & dinner was delicious with very attentive staff. We were on our first romantic break together so we didn't try out the bar with live music. The tv in the bedroom had an in-built dvd player. The bed was very comfortable indeed. Breakfast was excellent (apart from the coffer but this is a problem with all Irish hotels- why oh why can they never get the coffee right?!). I would definitely stay again

Good Afternoon Clare

Thank you so much for the review and lovely to see them from such accomplished reviewers. Im glad that you had a great time in the hotel and had a nice first romantic break with us. Hopefully it will make Tulfarris that special place for you two.

I am sorry about the coffee, I too am a coffee lover and will endeavour to speak with our suppliers on this and have some changes made but as you say as a industry our coffee offering is poor. We shall change and its with these comments that we do.

Thank you again and see you soon

Stayed there last weekend and played golf. Staff were very professional, upgraded us to a suite at no extra cost. Food was great and bar staff very friendly. Buffet breakfast was superb and the suite was splendid. The best weekend deal on offer anywhere and the location is beautiful. Will stay there again.

Our stay was part work part pleasure but as our usual base the Osprey,Naas was full, decided to try Tulfarris for the two nights as it was reasonably near to the area we would be walking in and part of the same group. The location is absolutely splendid amidst wonderful scenery with the lakes as a backdrop.Walking is,,from the door and if you must ..there is also that game known as golf.
At the end of the long elegant drive the property is very attractive , ample parking and very pleasing reception area with crackling fire and comfy chairs. One annoying feature while locating your room is the masses of spring loaded closed fire doors you encounter which makes carrying luggage into a tiring assault course. decor is muted and relaxing and the large room we had faced out onto the lakes through trees. Bed was great and large and comfy(two beds together) so obviously and sensibly can be presented as a twin. Great bathroom with large double powerful shower. We arrived very late and were dying for a shower unfortunately after an instant without warning it went scalding hot, burning me and could not be regulated.Tired out we called it a day as it was so very late and awoke to dull thuds and thwacks after a blissful nights sleep.Drawing the curtains revealed all....Golfers were obviously up early and enthusiasically at their strange pursuit!
Running late for a day working on the hills we dashed for the shower only for a repeat performance of scalding to occur.
Breakfast was great yet rushed with great choice and staff and after informing reception of the problem and danger we rushed off late to the hills with promises that the shower would be fixed.
On arrival back late after a long day on the hill and pretty wrecked collapsed on that divine bed. Woke late just in time for dinner rushed into shower, as reception said it had been dealt with, then jumped out as the scalding happened again .
So like "How we used to live", had a sink clean and hairwash and just about made dinner but had yet another word with reception about the continuing Health and Safety issue with the shower! Woman on reception was a little frosty ,had attitude and uppity so asked to speak to the General Manager Derek Bellini who was an absolutely charming man and well on his game and very customer orientated . He was very sympathetic and understood why we had not changed room so late and so early due to our hectic schedule and offered us a complimentary stay at the hotel for two nights which we accepted. This is how talented ,perceptive hospitality proffesionals deal with problems arising, with grace, understanding and treating it with the seriousness it deserves. It will also work in the hotels favour in the long run when they are seen to put things right with minimum fuss and customers are looked after fairly,
The bar was a great area, spacious and comfortable with lots of comfy couches and seats and energetic bar staff.Music entertainment was on both nights with a party like atmosphere and great time to be had. Late bar till 3 for those who really wish to let their hair down and dont need to play golf on the morrow.A no brainer! How could it be better? From a non golfing point of view and talking to other guests...a pool, sauna/steamroom and gym..as is the case with other golfing venues eg Blarney golf resort.
So..apart from the shower was a great place to stay and we will be back purely for a relaxing time, the spa ,great scenery and good food.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing towads the lakes and not on the ground floor by car park as masses of golfe...

Good Afternoon Odysseus53

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and what overall is a good review. I was made aware of all of your comments and I can only apologise but glad that Derek was able to sort everything out for you.
Regarding the shower, I really can apologise for this and it has been repaired. It was actually the thermos regulator in the shower itself. Unfortunatley we didnt have oone of these on site and it was a special order to get it.
I am glad that it hasnt deterred you from staying with us and please do let me know the next time you are with us and I will make sure that you are well looked after and maybe convert you to try Golf.

Kind Regards

After reading reviews on this website decided to stay in Tulfarris for a night. There was no hot water for a shower, the air conditioning did not work in the room, our room was small and cramped and as there were no more double rooms which we'd booked so two twin beds were put together which was uncomfortable. The dinner was very nice, there was 6 choices of main course but two had run out so only 4 main course options were available. The grounds are beautiful, would not make a return visit, maybe my expectations were too high after reading all the great reviews but was not impressed with this hotel.

Good Afternoon Stafforl

Thank you for taking the time to write your review for Tulfarris and I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations.
We do use a Zip and Link bed where we can have the room set as a Double Room or a Twin Room. This is very common in the hotels around Ireland but I certainly take your point on it and we are now looking at what we can do to relieve this.
I do understand on the evening you stayed we had a massive draw towards certain dishes and as all of our menu items are cooked on site and to order we really try to gauge what will be popular and make more of this. Unfortunately on this evening we didnt get this right and we did run out of items but we did replace this with the best alternative we could offer.

I really do hope that from all the other reviews read that you can take this as a once off occurence and that it doesnt deter you from staying with us again.

Kind Regards
Mark
