Stayed here for 3 nights to visit LaRochelle. Just 15 minutes direct drive to the centre, and in quiet countryside it was ideal.
A lovely warm welcome from Yann the owner, who put up with my poor french and helped out with his excellent English.
The house is lovely, built on the site of an old abbey.
Our large room had an African theme , beautifully decorated with a nice en suite. It had a vast comfortable bed, and a couple of armchairs.
I had a chance to look at all the other rooms, all individually decorated and beautiful.
Breakfast was taken around a huge communal table and was excellent. Along with the usual continental offerings there was home made yoghurt, home made banana bread and tarte aux pommes -delicious.
There was free WiFi but this was erratic in our bedroom.
There are coffee and tea making facilities on the galleried landing and a sitting area with books.
Visitors should note there are no TV’s in the bedrooms, though we were too busy for this to be a problem.
The garden and pool are lovely, unfortunately we didn’t have the weather to make the most of it.
The only slight downside was no restaurant in walking distance.
Next time we visit the area we will definitely stay here again.More
