Ballinalacken Castle Country House is in a lovely setting with gorgeous views and is by far the best place to stay in the area. The room we stayed in offered a four poster bed with an open fireplace and a lovely view across the hills and towards the shoreline with a lovely castle ruin nestled in behind the hotel. The staff were exceptional in their courtesy and helpfulness and personified relaxed yet professional hospitality in the subtle ways which sets top class service apart and Cecilia led the way, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our trip. The restaurant also provided an inventive menu with beatifully cooked dishes and as with the room, the restaurant views were remarkable. We had only been intending to stay for one night but extended our visit because of how much we enjoyed our time. Thank you to Cecilia and your staff for a very memorable time. We hope to be come back to see you soon.

Really enjoyed our weekend stay. The restaurant is first class, ate both nights. Cosy bar for a drink afterwards. Lovely spacious room. The staff are lovely and very hard working. Great location to see Ballyvaughan, Doolin and Lisdoonvarna. Beaches in Fanore and Lahinch are close too. Have to have a car though.

My husband and I stayed at Ballinalacken castle for four nights and enjoyed it very much. Everyone was very kind and efficient, and helpful about local activities and sites. We stayed in room 16, which has stunning views of the cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands from a set of nice, big windows. We loved touring the castle and exploring the surrounding land. If you're going to be spending much time outside, don't forget rain clothes!

Room Tip: Room 16 has an amazing view of the cliffs and the Aran Islands

We just returned from our first trip to Ireland and our stay at Ballinalacken and it was delightful.I had read other reviews and knew that it was not really a castle but had some castle ruins on the property. The inn is a few miles outside of Doolin and we enjoyed the quiet and serene surroundings. Cecilia upgraded us to a suite which was spacious with period decor. They have several rooms including a small bar where you can read, relax or just hang out after dinner or a day of touring. The dining/breakfast room is bright and sunny. The breakfast hot dishes were inventive, delicious and served with smiles.

I had a fantastic with my parter last weekend in Ballinalacken Castle. A truely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived the atmosphere is so welcoming. Our meal was top class. My prawn starter was so special I think I should have changed my main course to a second round of prawns. Three choices of soup, chowder or sorbet was the next round - it is not to decide with so many options. We both had lamb as our main course - it was perfectly cooked and delcious. By the tine dessert came I had little room to indulge my sweet tooth. That night there was a special offer of 4 courses for approx 37 - 38 euro per person. The offer was incredible value, the meal, the service and ambience was worth paying more for. Of course the unique charm and welcome on the night is down to the family. It was wonderful to have the chance to eat in a family owned and managed restaurant/hotel. In Clare this a GEM and hopefully locals support this family owned 1st Class business.

This is the first time visiting Doolin and Ballinalacken Castle Hotel. From the warm greeting at the reception desk to the lovely breakfast in the morning, hospitality is in abundance here. The rooms are spacious and the views are spectacular. There are many sights to see within 10 miles of the property. Our teenaged son loved the stay as well. I cannot wait to return with the whole family.

What a great place! We spent two great nights at Ballynalacken. Warm reception and the finest staff you will ever meet. We enjoyed the castle tour before dinner. The dinning experience was one of the best I have ever had. Five Star! We invited some guests for dinner who did not stay at the hotel. They were very welcome and went away promising to stay at the hotel on their next trip to Doolin. There is a cosy bar on the premises and the owner was so kind with his advise on the local area. I would highly recommend this establishment should you be in the Doolin, or county Clare area.
