We have recently returned to the Netherlands after a 7-night stay at Glebe Farm. What a wonderful time we had! The accommodation is wonderful: the room is beautiful with very comfortable beds, far-reaching views, a nice en-suite bathroom, fresh flowers and delicious homebaked cakes on arrival. Tessa is a fantastic hostess for whom nothing is too much trouble. She is a great cook, who manages to turn every breakfast into a true feast. Ashmore is a lovely quiet village hidden away in the Dorset countryside. There is so much to see within an hour's travel by car: Shaftesbury, Salisbury, Stourhead, Corfe Castle, Kingston Lacey, the beautiful Dorset coast, etc etc. We would certainly like to return to Glebe Farm!

Not in the habit of repeating reviews, but just had to make an exception for this one.....

We've recently got back from our fifth? sixth? trip to Glebe Farm and it seems to get better every time! Tessa and Ian are farmers who have built two stunningly luxurious, comfortable rooms especially for B and B guests and nothing, but nothing is ever too much trouble (though we always try not to give any, honestly!!). If you are a poor sleeper, try the beds at Glebe Farm, which are divinely comfortable (and the bedrooms are utterly peaceful with no noise but the wind in the trees and the occasional owl) and you will wake to a shower/bath (walk in shower in one room and a bath with overhead shower in the other) that really works. Towels are replaced daily as a matter of course and there are lots of nice little touches such as fresh flowers in the room, brownies to have with your tea or coffee and mirrors in different places so you can actually see to dry your hair, check your hem etc: I get so sick of finding in some places that I can put on makeup only in the semi darkness and yards from the nearest mirror! Breakfast is worthy of many a top flight hotel and the MENU (how many b and bs have one of those?!) consists of everything from smoked salmon and scrambled eggs (free range from just over the field, natch), to the full Dorset, including porridge on the way.

So then it's on to the day and we've never yet run out of things to do in the Ashmore area: there is gorgeous scenery, an abundance of 'trips' to make, such as National Trust houses, the tank museum, Monkey World, lots of lovely beaches, interesting towns, (Shaftesbury, Sherborne, Swanage, Dorchester etc), history ancient and more modern, walking to die for........ Oh, and Bristol, as we discovered this time, is only about an hour and forty mins away. You will never be bored!

And when you get home - and it does feel like coming home when you go back to Glebe Farm - Tessa can, by arrangement, have cooked you the most toothsome meal with all fresh ingredients to set you up for the next day. She is the most lovely, funny, lively, kindly lady and as her visitors' book says repeatedly 'the perfect hostess'.

Why haven't you booked already??
