We visited for a family meal before everyone had to go back to work. Great atmosphere in true old world surroundings. Friendly and relaxing welcome. Friendly and helpful waiting staff. Tables nicely spaced.
The food was excellent and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We will return!
Highly recommended.

Myself and my Grand Daughter had a very tasty well cooked meal and an enjoyable evening this week at the Griffin. Staff were friendly and professional and we enjoyed comfortable clean surroundings. We have been to the Griffin many times now and have never been disappointed so will be returning soon.

We haven't been to The Griffin for a few years due to several changes in ownership, and not very good experiences, but we decided on a whim to "give it a go" as we knew it had once again changed hands. We were really pleased with our main meals and desserts which were piping hot, plentiful and delicious and the ladies serving were friendly and welcoming. We were so pleased to see a change for the better as this old pub is lovely and we have missed it. We will definitely be back and will recommend The Griffin to our friends once again!

We decided to stop at The Griffin on our way home from a wind swept walk along Maldon Prom and we craved a decent Sunday Roast. The welcome was friendly and warm, a decent range of draft beers and lucky room in the restaurant. We both ordered the roast beef, it soon arrived with a large selection of vegetables and roast potatoes and one of the nicest gravies I've had for a long time. The portions of nice pink beef was plentiful and very flavoursome, my only quibble may be that the beef wasn't as tender as I would have hoped, but the flavour more than made it for it and certainly didn't spoil a lovely lunch. We will certainly be revisiting

We enjoyed our food but where we ate was so underheated we ended up sitting in our coats. Staff told us that the heating was on (rad was barely warm) and that as a listed building installing better glazing was too pricey. A small fan heater would have made a massive difference, encouraged us to order more and made it look like they took their guest's comfort seriously. A shame as it's a lovely building and the waitress was very welcoming.
