I had a very enjoyable stay at Yuli's while in Kuta Lombok, mainly because of the great hosts Yuli and Mike, and their friendly, hardworking staff. What differentiate's Yuli's from the many other homestays in the Kuta area is that it's world-class in terms of neatness of the grounds, and cleanliness of the accommodations. The hosts clearly understand what Western traveller's expect when it comes to hygiene - a concept which is in short supply in many of Indonesia's hotels and accommodations.

The personal touch is what makes the homestay experience generally more satisfying than a hotel experience. Yuli's uncle Anjung drove me around for 4 days, including a trip up to Bengsal when I went to Gili Trawangan. I left some luggage at Yuli's for a few days, and Anjung brought it with him when he fetched me in Bangsal and took me to Sengiggi. The ability to trust people when you travel is important, but unfortunately rare. You can trust the whole team at Yuli's...

The homestay is quite a distance to Kuta beach itself, but I walked there every day and enjoyed the exercise. Most people seem to hire motorbikes or a driver to get around..

The only negatives for me was the inexplicable lack of a hot water shower, lack of internet, and no TV in the spacious room - or a common TV area for guests. I'm one of those traveller's who likes to still watch a good comedy show at night even when I'm on holiday :) Price-wise it's not exactly a bargain at US$50/night, but the positives tend to offset the negatives. Otherwise Yuli's can be recommended to all visitors to Kuta...

This was the best place we stayed in 7 weeks of travel around Lombok and the Gili Islands. The staff are all so lovely, the grounds are beautiful, the price is amazing, and Yuli and Mike are superb hosts.

I stayed at Yuli's this September - and have nothing but great things to say: This guesthouse is the most friendly and cleanest I've ever stayed at. Everyone in town knows Yuli by first name and Yuli and Mike have access to everything you could want to do in Lombok: scooter rental, surf recommendations, restaurant recommendations, great breakfasts, relaxing atmosphere, and central location. Couldn't have been happier with this pick.

Great all round experience....from quick and effective communication through the enquiry and booking process, arrangements for airport pick up, scooter rental.....and of course the friendly environment. We really felt at home, everything was clean, great lawn and clean pool, friendly staff. From what we saw in the area during our stay, I believe this is the best option. Also good restaurant recommendations. Without a doubt I would stay here again and recommend to friends. Luckily Mike and Yuli are expanding, as I know they have to turn away many prospective customers.

Yuli and Mike are great hosts and the guesthouse is the best place to stay if your budget can’t fit the Novotel hotel, maybe even if it does! The accommodations are spotless and the breakfasts is large and Yuli and Mike are great for a laugh and can help you organize your time. They are a great source of local information and also provide pickup/drop offs. The guesthouse is a short walk/ride to the main area. Best to have a torch at night.

The rooms are spacious with a/c and fan, comfortable beds/good pressure showers and a seating area in front of the rooms. The pool is a great place to cool off from the heat and grounds are spacious and well kept and secure. A communal kitchen is available. Their two dogs will keep you company. Book way ahead, it fills up fast. They are building, bit it is in another area and the noise is non-existent as the stone wall is very high.

FYI, as a predominantly Muslim island, there is a call to prayer throughout the day. It is not that loud. After being near the Blue Mosque in Istanbul – the one Kuta is easy to sleep through.
