“Lovely Stay in Lanercost”
Reviewed 6 June 2012

I was traveling with my brother, and we came straight from the airport to this, our first B&B. We were welcomed (much earlier than expected) with cake and tea and fabulous hosts (and a friendly dog) and a warm fireplace. Everything about this stay was fantastic for two jet lagged travelers just looking to sleep a little and catch up to Greenwich Mean Time (and yes, to wander the wall and meet a few sheep). I especially loved our huge bathroom and Molton Brown bath products--I always feel filthy after a long flight so this was perfect. We caught a wedding at the Priory (bagpipes and kilts!), were served some interesting drinks before the priory tour from a hilarious ticket agent, and breakfast the next morning was filling and yummy yummy yummy. Thank you again to Christina and Bob!!!

Wow, thank you for your super review. We are always ready to welcome you even if the last guests have only just left. We are lucky to have the Abbey and Priory right beside us and to live in such a warm and welcoming area. It was a real pleasure to welcome you to Lanercost and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Kind regards
Bob and Christina (and Mutley)

Lanercost B&B is an "exellente adresse" (the same in english!). We walked along the Hadrian's wall and found there one of our two niciest stays. Christina welcomed us very friendly with a delicious piece a chocolate cake and a lovely tea (no teabag!) in her beautiful living-room, taking the time to talk with us.The evening meal we shared with a couple of very nice Norvegian people was excellent and the breakfast top quality (my husband still canot believe I had a kipper at 8 am!), the bedroom was very nice and very very comfortable. And I don't forget Bob who was a very nice and friendly host. I wish all the best to Lanercost B&B!

Unlike a majority of visitors to this area we were not exploring Adrians Wall, but researching my wifes family. Her great great grandfather was actually born in the farmhouse. The welcome by Christina and Bob (& Mutley ) was first rate.We were made to feel most at home and treated like part of the family -although we did not have to do any of the chores. The room and food was excellent, and the ambience of the location enhances the whole experience. The friendly atmosphere created by the hospitality of our hosts ensured our stay was one to remember. They were most helpful not only as hosts but with the research we were undertaking. At short notice on the first night Christina created an evening meal that equalled any restuarant we have experienced and the other guests, (two American ladies), agreed with our appreciation.(I do hope they found the way home) The location is beautiful and any visit is only improved by the efforts and work of Christina and Bob, with the outstanding quality of accomodation and excellent meals provided. We would fully recommend this B&B to anone . During our ten day research trip to the area we stayed at a number of locations and this was by far the highlight of our trip.
Thanks Christina and Bob especially for time and effort in ensuring we celebrated our wedding anniversary, and for providing a standard of hospitality and quality of food second to noe.

Hi Mike and Sari,
Thank you for your super review, it is so easy to welcome guests when they are like you. just one year after opening our door here at Lanercost, we have been very lucky and welcoming guests in to our home has been a pleasure. It is a specail place and the community here is one of our greatest strenghts. The two ladies you met had enjoyed so much hospitality along the Wall that getting lost was defernatly a major part of the pleasure and expereance. They were so delightfull that erreyone will be kind. You also met the couple who's review proceeds your's, as I said we have enjoyed welcoming the most super guests.
The wedding anniversary present arrived well before the day and I had instructions to present it on the day at breakfast. It was the most perfectly wraped present so lots of Brownie points towards husband of the year for you Mike.
We look forward to welcoming you back.

We stayed at Lanercost on the second night of our Hadrians wall Walk. The website gave a very good impression and we were not disappointed, it was in a beautiful setting, calm and serene.
A log fire and tea and cake on our arrival was very welcoming. We felt like friends of the family.
the accomodation was wonderful, great shower, and lovely soft BIG towels. Beds you wouldnt want to get out of in the morning unless you had to (and we did have to) breakfast was great and set us up for the day.
A lovely place I am sure I will return to.
good luck with the award Christina and Bob (and Muttley)

We stayed on the last night of our honeymoon, it was a brilliant find - Im nearly always disappointed by B&Bs but this one is a gem. Have complete confidence when booking! The surroundings are beautiful, the rooms very well furnished. We slept in possibly the most comfortable bed known to man. The attention to detail is lovely, great toiletries in the bathroom, cakes on arrival, homemade biscuits in the room. The owners are charming and very warm. The breakfast was really delicious. If you are planning on coming here, you are in for a treat.

Mr & Mrs Jones

Room Tip: We stayed in the River Room, a fantastic bed and a great view.

We found this lovely B&B by chance while visiting Hadrian's Wall. The house offers great views over the surrounding countryside and is set in the middle of an historic site. The room was nice and very clean. The breakfast was superb as was the warm and friendly atmosphere created by Bob and Christina (and Motley!). Highly recommended.

Friendliest B&B in Britain Final 2012 .Just 25 finalists throughout Britain from 3500 establishments. Already a great success in just one year of operation. It was a pleasure to welcome you and we look forward to your return.

We found Lanercost B&B on the internet and took a chance. It was outstanding. My only regret is that we only planned a one night stay. The next time we are in the area we would stay longer. Bob, Christina and Mutley were a delight and the breakfast was the best of our week in the UK. We have already recommended to many friends. Finally the directions were perfect and we had no trouble finding the property.
