“Comfortable, well organised and managed house on West Coast Scotland”
Reviewed October 6, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

All you could want for a successful, happy, easy holiday with family and several extra children.

Balure is a really lovely house set in extensive grounds in a superb location with gorgeous sea views. It has the added 'wet weather' bonus of a very big Norlog cabin at the end of the garden with a ping pong table and pool room and cosy sittting room in which four of the children opted to sleep,

Balure house itself was incredibly practical, having a really good sized back kitchen and big coat and boot room. We were a party of three adults and nine children and never felt over run by the younger team or overcome by endless wetsuits, coats, wellies, trainers, wet dogs etc

Angus and Rebecca take everything in their stride and are extremely accomodating - even though I am their sister-in-law!

Great fun house and exactly what you dream of finding for a West Coast holiday,

Thank you!

Thank you so much, it is always a great leveller to have family to stay and with so many to accommodate the house, grounds and Games Lodge were certainly tested to the limit so we are really pleased everything was a success for you all.

“Wonderful house, wonderful part of the world”
Reviewed August 13, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I never usually write these sorts of things but I am compelled to, having just spent a week at beautiful Balure House, with our extended family.

The house itself is full of charm and fully equipped with lots of little luxuries, such as rain showers, dish washers, games rooms with games console, pool tables etc.

We were a party of 9 and the house was spacious and airy; we never felt overcrowded, which was in part due to the e tends ice grounds within which the house is set. It is all so wonderfully peaceful, with views across to Gigha and the paps of Jura.

The location itself is great: 20 minutes in either direction takes you to the 2 main towns within Kintyre, Campeltown and Tarbert and the ferry across to Gigha is a 10 minute car journey (or a 60 minute walk along the beach for those of you feeling more energetic!)

Angus and Rebecca were great hosts; available and willing to help if we needed anything but completely unobtrusive.

We had such a wonderful time; collecting shells, island hoping, distillery visiting, mackerel fishing (we caught 12 one morning but lost 3 to some rather greedy seals), whale and puffin watching, eating the most beautiful seafood and watching awe inspiring sunsets......our only regret would be that we didn't book 2 weeks!

“Fantastic place for a group of families to holiday - we'd love to return”
Reviewed November 3, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We stayed at Balure Country House for a week in August 2014. Our group consisted of six adults and six young children (aged from two to 10). Even though the house usually sleeps a maximum of 10, Rebecca kindly provided extra beds for the two toddlers at no additional cost.

We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return. Even though we were a bit unlucky with the Scottish weather, it didn't matter. The house was large enough that we didn't trip over each other. The children loved exploring the large grounds and they also spent a lot of time playing out in the games room. The kitchen was extremely well equipped which made cooking for a large group enjoyable and the adults enjoyed retiring to the fire in the formal lounge after the kids had gone to bed.

There was lots to see in the local area and Rebecca provided a great list of recommendations. She was very happy to help and very responsive both before and during our stay.

Had an amazing week at Balure in a house so well kitted out we wanted for nothing! Really relaxing with children all occupied in the amazing games lodge and the tv snug was a real hit where they watched a DVD before bed. Angus and Rebecca should win an award or something - they are amazing hosts / owners and were so helpful and accommodating, even their directions to get there are second to none!
Beautiful house restored, decorated and furnished beautifully really can't recommend highly enough, 10/10

Spent the weekend with friends and and a wonderful time! The house is just amazing- very old family house with lots of history but all been renovated for today's modern family. Rooms are lovely, bath/shower facilities more than adequate. Large fitted kitchen with a really funky tap !! Beautiful gardens. Lots of parking space. Lovely games room. Beach is a 5 mins walk away. Location is perfect. I really can't say anymore. Rebecca and Angus are very welcoming and just lovely people- you won't be disappointed. I'll be going back
