Kilcraggen is a wonderful village with everything (bank, little supermarket, butchery and the Creggan Pub) in the near from the cottage. The Cottage is ideal for a short vacation and has a lovely garden overlooking the Pier. Saw AIDA come and our neighbours (kid's friends) we're in it. Had a wonderful time with them Glasgow.
Lovely cottage on the end of short functional pier. Loved watching the small ferry dock and locals coming up the pier talking to Gavin the "Pier master" and his two little dogs. What a job! Sat every morning outside on the patio taking in the fresh air, scenery and activity of this lovely little town. Came back to the real world refreshed and colleagues telling me I looked very well :-)
The cottage is located in Kilcreggan on the Rosneath Peninsula across the River Clyde from Gourock. The cottage is right on the riverside at the start of the pier and has the most beautiful back garden overlooking the river. The village is small but has everything you need - a great cafe for breakfast, lunch and supper Cafe at Kilcreggan; a great welcoming pub The Creggans; a grocery store, a butchers shop, post office, barbers and a couple of other little shops. The bus stop for Gairloch and Helensburgh is right at the door and the ferry operates hourly to Gourock. The cottage itself is excellent with great facilities - one double bedroom (with shower cubicle); one twin bedroom; one bathroom; sitting room; kitchen with dining space and patio doors overlooking the river. We watched cruise ships leave from Greenock, naval ships to and from Faslane and of course the Kilcreggan Ferry. We also took the trip to Rothesay on the Waverley which was excellent. The cottage was clean and Millie had kindly left bread, butter, jam, tea, coffee, etc as a nice welcome. We had my elderly dad with us so the cottage was perfect for him, being all on the one level. TV and WiFi provided as well as books, games, etc. We were so lucky with the weather and were able to take advantage of the garden but for the colder days there are log burning stoves throughout the cottage. Only minor thing was we had thought there were 2 bathrooms with 2 toilets and there was only one - didn't spoil our visit though as we managed with one. Look forward to our next visit to Pier Cottage. Thank you so much Millie!
We Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this quaint cottage right on the Clyde. Highlights were beachcombing for bits of treasure, shopping at the butchers and other shops, watching the activity on the ferry dock and taking the ferry across to Gourock, hiking to Rosneath, relaxing on the deck...could have stayed much longer
Everything was perfect and Millie was quick to respond to anything we needed. Really enjoyed the view and the area.
My wife and I have recently returned from a short break at Pier Cottage and we enjoyed every minute. Millie is a very welcoming host and the cottage is very comfortable and attractively furnished.Best of all is the location, literally at the water's edge of the River Clyde. There are marvellous views up and down the river, and across to Gourock two miles distant. We were interested to see two submarines passing by on the surface shortly after we arrived - that was definitely a first! Maybe Millie arranged it.
We would unreservedly recommend Pier Cottage.
The location directly overlooking the firth of Clyde could not be better. Convenient local amenities, pub, bank, shops eating places etc. Good jumping off position for exploring Argyllshire, good ferry connections for Clyde islands. Millie was very helpful an friendly, nice touch leaving essentials for guests. We will go back again!
