This is an update to our first review posted last year. As ever the welcome is warm and there is great attention to detail with dietary restrictions fully respected – thank you. There has, however, been some changes in the kitchen – personnel have moved on and others have been promoted. The cooking is still very good and, at times, close to exceptional. In addition to the main restaurant it is now possible to order gourmet pizzas in the bar area – they are very different to the Napoli style pizzas we are used to enjoying but they are extremely good!
With encouragement and focus, the kitchen team should quickly attain the heights previously achieved. The hotel’s web site should, however, reflect these changes. But I am sure this is an oversight and will soon be rectified.
The cantina is as outstanding as ever and it is good to see Alessandro has not lost any of his skill in making exceptional cocktails.
The Wi-Fi, however, was not up to scratch during our visit. While good internet access may not be a priority for many of the hotel and restaurant’s clients, for Northern European visitors it is most important.
All in all, I was tempted to give 4 stars this time round, simply because of the lack of up-date information on the website and the poor Wi-Fi, but perhaps that would have been mean, so 5 stars it remains.More
