“Bliss!!”
Reviewed January 15, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

If you are looking for somewhere to stay on the Central Coast around the Avoca Beach/Terrigal area and you have come across The West Wing - I have only one thing to say to you - BOOK IT, you will not regret it.

It is the most beautiful property - both inside and out, furnished and fitted out to a very high standard. 3 seating areas - a covered veranda, a decking area with dining table/chairs and parasol, and the pavilion overlooking the tranquil fish pond all provide something different and we enjoyed using all three.

The breakfast hamper that Kim delivers to your doorstep every morning is amazing and something to really look forward it each day, especially the freshly baked bread and the most amazing eggs ever!! The fridge/cupboard has also been well stocked with those essential items like cereal, coffee, tea, salad dressings, chutneys etc that you never usually find in a self catering property, and usually have to buy and then only eat half of, are all there for your to enjoy at your leisure.

Kim and Ken are wonderful hosts and are hand to help in any way they can without being on top of you. Their local knowledge is of course invaluable, and they are lovely people.

We booked this property after it came up in a search back in the UK and although our daughter who is temporarily in Avoca Beach did go to look at it for us, it really is as lovely as it looks on the web site. It fact she liked it so much that herself and her boyfriend ended up coming to stay with us for a week!!

So go ahead, and book it, I can fully recommend it. You wont regret it.

“Truly Amazing and Tranquil”
Reviewed November 9, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

After bad previous experiences with online bookings I was hesitant in using a service again without knowing the property. The West Wing would have to be the most cleanest, tranquil, luxurious holiday rental I have ever seen let alone used. It was far better than a 5 star expensive motel. All facilities were of outstanding quality, both inside and outside of the premises was absolutely spotless, and the hosts Kim and Ken, were friendly and readily available if assistance was required. I have no hesitation in recommending this venue to anybody and will definitely use again for myself and my family .

“Highly recommended relaxing stay”

My wife and I were a little hesitant staying at a place with no online reviews, but the pictures and write-up looked nice enough, so we thought we’d give it a shot. And we’re glad we did. So here is the first ever online review, and I apologise if I ramble on a bit!

The West Wing is a lovely 2 bedroom studio/house that is separated from the owner’s main residence by a couple of garages. It is set in a very nice semi-rural location that is very close to Erina Fair (LARGE shopping centre) and Terrigal. The hosts (Kim and Ken) are very nice. Kim is generally around a good deal of the time, and is more than happy to have a chat, or leave you alone if you’d prefer.

I have to say in advance that we unluckily picked the coldest 3 nights in the last 15 or so years to stay in the Central Coast area (end of July 2015), and therefore didn’t spend as much time outside as we would have liked. I would imagine that ordinarily, it would be very pleasant sitting out on the balcony or down a bit further under the pavilion by the pond. We did, however, manage to spend some up close and personal time getting to know the very cute chickens that sometimes roam around the property. They are quite friendly and would come up to us looking for something to eat, but never in your face. They are happy scratching around nearby, and as there are no roosters, you don’t have to worry about them waking you up in the morning.

The studio itself is recently renovated and very nice. You can obviously tell that Kim enjoys interior design and styling and she has fitted the place out very nicely. There are quality linens, lots of items in the kitchen such as fresh milk and orange juice, cereals, condiments, mayonnaise, tomato chutney, caramelised onion, cheeses, a bottle of wine, chocolates, coffee, and a very generous fruit bowl. The kitchen is also very well stocked with all the stuff you need with regards to plates, bowls, cutlery, pots, pans and cooking utensils. Tank water is used on the property, and in case you’re uneasy with drinking it, there is an under-sink filter and some bottled water in the fridge.

Then there’s the fabulous breakfast hamper that Kim leaves on your doorstep every morning! There’s organic bacon, fresh eggs from the aforementioned chickens, freshly made sour dough bread that Kim bakes every day (and it’s nice and warm when it arrives), baby spinach, tomatoes, more fruit and butter. Add all that to the cereals, milk and orange juice, and you’ve got a pretty hearty breakfast to start your day.

On the entertainment side, there’s no digital TV coverage there, but that didn’t worry us. There is, however, Netflix to keep you entertained with plenty of movies and TV shows, as well as a DVD/Blu-ray library and plenty of books. There’s also free Wi-Fi, and it worked pretty well most of the time. There were a couple of instances when it stopped completely, and a couple more instances where Netflix stopped for about 30 seconds, but other than it, it was pretty decent.

I can't really say anything negative about our stay, other than the unusually cold weather. There is reverse-cycle ducted air conditioning which we definitely used at night and in the morning. It did take a while to warm the house up, but houses in this area really aren’t designed to handle the cold very well, because they usually don’t have to. We mentioned to Kim a couple of very minor things that we thought could be included and they will probably be there by the time the next guest arrives. Kim was very happy with the feedback we gave her.

Overall, I think Kim and Ken have done a fantastic job is creating a very homely and relaxing experience, even more so considering we are only the second guests to stay there, and thus their experience is fairly limited.

I would highly recommend the West Wing to anyone.
