We revived with a quick coffee in a pleasant coffee bar/restaurant before commencing our tour, following a short journey from Cwmbran.
Cheryl our excellent tour guide chaperoned us through various rooms, explaining clearly and with humour how, ' money gets to be in our pockets.' the manufacturing process is riveting and we could see this going on through a large window. The final treat was a brief film and practical exhibitions filled with more information, images, and models. The shop was a bonus.

Our coach was brought here for the morning, and what a place! The guide was excellent and the tour was fascinating, a good couple of hours here and so enjoyable, no matter what age you are you will enjoy this visit. Lots of lovely gifts, some of them very expensive, and the only criticism would have to be the café, with a captive audience they had a lot food expensively priced. The toilets were great, large and very clean and all in all our coach group enjoyed themselves.

Really wasn't expecting too much from this if I'm honest - but was pleasantly surprised. The tour was brilliant and you actually get to see in the factory (you are kept very separated from any money unfortunately).
There's an excellent presentation of the history of the mint and many exhibits to look at.
The only reason I haven't given it full marks is because it's quite expensive. It cost us nearly £50 (1 Adult & 2 Teens - which did include minting your own coin for the kids).

No matter what age, our party were pensioners, this visit would appeal to all age groups . Really good displays and a factory tour with some facinating information about how our coins are made. The tour guide we had was excellent, informative, humorous and enthusiastic.

We went with our granddaughter and she enjoyed it, including the plaster cast making.
We went during the school holidays so the place was very busy.
There were organised tours around the mint about 1 hour apart which stopped along the way to tell you about the history and about the coin making process as well as a chance to make your very own new pound coin (at a fee of 1 for £5 or 2 for £7.50).
you are escorted around the viewing areas of the coin making machines and are given many facts and figures about how much is made and for how many other countries etc, Our guide was Emily who knew everything there was to know, you only had to ask and she knew the answer.
The Mint was easy to find and had a large free car park alongside.
