The hotel is located right on the banks of the River Loiret so the view from our room was beautiful. Definitely try to ask for a river view if you can.

We had a family room which contained a double, single and room for a cot for our baby which was provided by the hotel (at a €15 cost which was a bit disappointing, the only hotel on this France trip who has charged a supplement for a baby cot).

The main problem in my opinion was that while they were generally clean, the rooms and decor of the hotel was from a different era and quite tired and shabby in places. Not sure the hotel has seen much investment in at least 20 years.

We didn't try the restaurant but it did look good, with many diners sat out on the river side terrace.

Only a few minutes drive into Orleans itself which is well worth a visit.

Two nights here, a fortnight apart. Quiet, elegant rooms with, on each occasion, views across the River Loiret, with its ducks and occasional oarsmen. Lovely space on the ground floor in which to take advantage of the Wi-Fi (unaccountably poor in the bedrooms) and enjoy a drink,

Excellent breakfast with waitress service made for peaceful starts to each day. A real pleasure and a place to which I would be delighted to return. €88 for the room and €13 per capita for the breakfast.

I have stayed at Le Rivage on several occasions but the last two visits this summer were very disappointing. No bar staff available for an early evening drink. No hot water and when we complained we were told by the owner there was nothing he could do. The restaurant was excellent but we were hurried through dinner although the food was delicious. We had to ask the waiter to slow things down. The wine and drinks were expensive. We contacted the hotel to ensure we had hot water on our return visit and although they sent an email stating this would be arranged, there was no hot water again. Would definitely recommend the restaurant but next time we shall stay at an alternative hotel.

Great location..rooms average and disappointed at dinner. Food was average but had no time to digest before the next course came and the waiter kept looking at his watch!!!! Very unusual in a French restaurant.

stayed in August 2016 - having heard good things about the hotel I was shocked at how bad it was. The restaurant itself is perfectly nice with a good view over the river - however it is over priced for what you get. also being next to the river means that whilst you are eating you are being eaten alive by mosquitos. Very unpleasant.

The hotel room was incredibly uncomfortable. Air conditioning did not work and the linen was dirty. Also no hot water. Well, there may have been but I did not want to wait any longer for it to kick in (10 mins and stone cold water only).

and very expensive

bad experience. I also emailed them with these complaints and have not heard back

We stayed overnight at this lovely comfortable hotel with views of the Loiret River and had an amazing dinner on the terrace. Great food, cheese, dessert and wine. Whole experience was terrific. The walk along the river is not to be missed. A great place to stay whole touring the chateaus of the Loire.

Le Rivage, whilst lacking in architectural charm, is in a lovely position by the River. The hotel itself is relatively basic but what it does do well is found in the restaurant. The owner is clearly proud of his food as he mingles with the clientele, accepting the plaudits, but he has every reason to be as this is clearly one of "the places" to eat in the suburbs of Orleans.
As others have said, the staff are very knowledgeable about their food...its was good to spend time discussing the cheeseboard and everything is presented and cooked perfectly. Whilst the hotel accommodation is reasonably priced, it is however, not cheap to eat and, particularly, drink here. The wine list is expensive and it is a struggle to find anything half decent under 40 euros a bottle, so be prepared for that.
If you are looking for a fine Restaurant with simple accommodation in a nice setting then this place is to be recommended. If you are simply looking for a reasonably priced stay in the area then if you choose Le Rivage, adjust your budget accordingly or find somewhere that does not have a fine dining reputation to maintain.
