It's nice that places like these are preserved and maintained. Nice for a drink outside if the weather allows it but you need a car or canoe to get there.

The rooms are minuscule and so are the beds, which are some of the worse I have seen in a hotel ever. Full of spider webs does not speak a lot for attention to cleanliness even though it was not outright dirty.

The restaurant on top of a cellar out of the moulding Middle Ages is hardly something to show off.

The restaurant is really cramped, gets impossibly noisy and hot and the service while very friendly is a weird attempt at sophisticated in a peasant like manner. They should cut out the sophisticated pretensions and be simple. The same can be said for the food.

Last but not least the prices are outrageous for what you get especially for quite common wines.

I'm not giving it a worse rating because service was friendly and that matters.

An old and very danish tavern by the river Gudenå. Peaceful and very picturesque countryside. Nice courtyard and garden. History in every room and on every wall. Good breakfast and evening meal meny. Very friendly staff. Some noice from the plumbing and squeaky beds. The place looked very difficult for people with wheelchairs.

A Inn built in 1834 on the bank of the largest Danish river for travellers in olden days to halt by for the night, offers same experience to its guests today in its unique & adorable very well preserved ancient decor.

This Hotel stay is must try destination for everyone who has interest in history as it offers something that is so rich & unique that too of Danish past.

Its very well kept with thousands of artefacts & items spread all around in each & every corner, walls, walkways, corridors, restaurants, bar etc. of the hotel. One can spends days admiring each of these.

It has a unique smoking house in its courtyard which is such a delight to see & understand the lifestyles of past.

It offers free WiFi that works throughout the property and is of moderate speed.

The food served is of outstanding quality & taste offering some of the best of Danish cousine, again a not to miss experience.

The breakfast spread is adequate with very good quality of cereals & breads on offer amongst the many other delights.

The rooms very small in size (but adequate), seem to have original decor of old days & are very well kept cum maintained with plenty of artefacts from old times all over the place. One can definitely experience what the travellers in the past experienced in its rooms. The bed in my room was a single bed with hard mattress, but comfortable.

I stayed at Room # 15 on the first floor with window facing the river on the back side. The bathroom was surprisingly of very decent size & decor with all modern amenities & limited toiletries. I heard that cake soap was discouraged for use maintaining its old tradition.

It also has a very unique underground wine cellar offering some very very old & very expensive wines dating back many many decades. It is a must see area of the hotel that one should not miss at all.

Its staff is courteous & helpful.

Don't miss the chance to stay at this amazing place and I already look forward to my next visit to this wonderful unique boutique property whenever it happens in future.

Room Tip: Stay at rooms on the first floor facing river
