Reviewed July 10, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

I recently stayed in Thistledown in Sunderland with my Fiance, Mother and young Daughter when I was down on a business trip.
Firstly the location of the house is great and very easy to find, 10 minute walk from the Centre of Sunderland in one direction and 10 minutes from the beach and seafront in the other, ideal.
The house is kitted out with everything you could need for a stay, fully stocked kitchen, all linen, towels etc. A travel cot bed was also there for our daughter. The kitchen was also stocked with tea, coffee, sugar and other basics when we arrived which was a nice touch.
Also included were a selection of kids toys and games and a cupboard full of DVDs which kept my daughter occupied. The smart TV was also pre loaded with a netflix account through the house WIFI so we certainly were not stuck for entertainment in the evenings.
The house itself has a great atmosphere, much bigger than it looks in the pictures but at the same time very cosy.
Communications with the owner were great and detailed instructions on where to collect the keys were recieved well in advance.
All in all we had a fantastic weekend and if Im ever in Sunderland in the future I will certainly be staying here again.

“Perfect little gem....”
Reviewed May 21, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

As a cosy, comfortable home from home, Thistledowne was just what we hoped for. Plenty of room for three of us and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. On arrival, it was beautifully presented and the shower was bliss after a day out walking on the beaches! The location was perfect, close to the harbour front, university and the coast - plus the neighbourhood was very peaceful, even though it is only a short walk/ride to the city centre and main foodstores/retail park. The National Glass Centre is minutes away and well worth a visit.

Thank you Pam for your excellent hospitality, catering for our specific needs and the great communication - all you need to know is provided in a guest email link, which made the whole process very smooth indeed. We look forward to returning in the future.

Thank you JuliOlli for your great review. It is difficult to get the balance right between homely and welcoming and clean and tidy so I am pleased we seem to be getting there. I know a small frying pan for making omelettes would have been useful so one is now at Thistledowne ready for your next visit!! Thank you for your custom and we hope you will stay again.

“Stay at Thistledown”
Reviewed April 2, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Excellent. The house is clean and well furnished. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need including a decent set of kitchen knives. Even good weather was provided
Location couldn't be beaten within walking distance of sea, marina, glass museum and city centre. All this and peaceful and quiet as well.

“Beautiful house and in lovely location”
Reviewed November 27, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

I was very impressed with this house. It was beautifully furnished and really cosy and comfortable. I really did feel as if i was in my own home. The kitchen was really well equiped with good quality pans etc. This was important for me as having family and friends in Sunderland i wanted to entertain them all together instead of everyone inviting me to their homes. The house is ideally situated. Easy access into the centre and near the marina so walking to the beach was no problem especially as the illuminations were on at the time and traffic was quite heavy. About 5 minutes walk to the National Glass Centre for afternoon tea and cake. Really did feel as though i was on holiday and not just a trip to Sunderland to see family. Will certainly rent this house again.
