Not too bad

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 22, 2015via mobile
Nice clean friendly mom and pop.
Food. Boat ramp. Small store.
Reasonable rates.
Close to Sioux Narrows and right on Highway 71. Have stayed there twice before nice place. Places to park your trailer and you can dock right there.

Sioux Narrows and Nestor Falls are located in an unbelievably tranquil area of the Lake of the Woods. I have worked there, rented cabins there with my wife and friends for over 20 years. It has just enough services to be comfortable but plugged into countless bays and islands on the east side of the lake to be as remote as you want it to be. There is a renaissance under way. While the recent recession has almost killed the outfitter industry, there are still some businesses doing OK and several new, and high quality places have opened up. Crystal Harbour is an older hotel but the entire place is spotless, it has a very nice and large restaurant and lounge area, and the owner/operator is a fantastic lady to do business with. If you want a quiet cabin tucked away, go with an outfitter, if you want a reliable place perhaps for a first time visit, or something with more of a hotel flavour, go to Crystal. I'll be back countless times this year for work! If you want an outfitter cabin but aren't sure, you could spend a weekend here and scout the entire area to find what you want and then come back for an extended trip. Good for business, families, couples, friends and solo.

Room tip: Always take ear plugs to a hotel, no matter where you are. City, country, Mars. All the rooms face to the south-southwest towards the highway. There is some highway noise but not excessive. I personally prefer the ground floor to the upstairs, but either are OK. All have AC, TV. There is a small private beach right out front.

Stayed for two nights in the motel units. They have a nice place to eat, gas for your boat, ice, and a dock for leaving your boat in the water. They also have a landing for your boat as well. The hotel is dated but the beds were comfortable, the AC worked, and hot water for a shower. We did not spend much time in the rooms other than in the evenings after fishing. They also have a smaller fridge in the rooms. Decent place to stay for the price.
