NORTH TO ALASKA

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 12, 2019
Spent one night here on our way South on the Alaska Highway. Located in a forest a few miles from Haines Junction Yukon, surrounded by snow covered mountains. A beautiful location. Operated by a very nice young couple. We had a large and comfortable room, which very also very quiet. The only negative was the Bathroom was higher than the Bedroom, with a ramp from Bedroom to Bathroom, posing a tripping hazard for a 70+ year old couple who goes to Bathroom several times a night.

Thank you so much for this beautiful review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay. We took over the lodge just over a year ago and working on many improvements at the moment. We are aware of the inconvenience of the ramp in the bathroom and it is in our near planning to lower the bathroom to remove the ramp to make it at the same level of the bathroom and remove the danger of fall.

Hoping to see you again one day!

My wife and I stayed two nights with Roxanne & David, lovely down to earth, caring folks and we enjoyed every minute...we should have booked longer.
Two nights ....not enough as there is much to see and to do in this area.
Our room was excellent, the breakfasts very good and the spaghetti dinner excellent.
IF we return I think we will try and book the yurt.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We also think that one or two nights is too short not only for the lodge but for our wonderful area that is Kluane National Park.

You always welcome back!

We had a couple of days to pass in the Yukon before flying out into the wilderness. We'd overnighted in Vancouver before flying into Whitehorse to pick up a car and take our time driving over to Haines Junction and then onto the Lodge. Stayed in the Mount Vancouver room. We arrived tired and jet-lagged, not sure where we were going to get dinner, so the surprise that we could have dinner there, and then the quality of dinner was just great. After a sociable, and excellent, breakfast we headed out for a day touring the area and were then back to enjoy a second great and sociable dinner along with other guests. I left quite disappointed that we hadn't had time or need to stay longer!

Very dog friendly, with very well behaved and friendly dogs of their own. I had a soft-spot for 'Go-away', that was his name, which reflected his friendly nature!

Our room had been recently refurbished, was warm, clean and had everything we needed. You have to be realistic, if you are travelling in the Yukon then you are a long way from big cities and it's not like a city presentation, but then you are in the Yukon and not a city to enjoy the wilderness, and Mount Logan is true luxury for a wilderness. There were plenty of sockets for charging cameras, phones and laptops which is what you need when travelling and wifi was a great bonus.

Sitting out the back with a beer and a view of the mountains after a days driving, or walking, with people like Roxanne and David, who are obviously working so hard to make it a great experience, couldn't have been in a better place.

This lodge is about 10 km north of Haines Junction and is well located for those seeking to explore Kluane National Park. The lodge offers guided hikes and other assistance, so is a good choice for those seeking a wilderness adventure, but rooms are overpriced compared to other lodgings in the area. The breakfast (included) is delicious and coffee and tea are available all day.

I spent a couple of hours talking with the owners and some of their employees in the living room on the main floor before heading off to the bedroom in the basement. It was a nice size, very clean and the mattress was very comfortable. The bathroom was on the main level. I had a long drive ahead and had to leave very early in the morning, so I can't really comment on the breakfast, but if it was anything like the supper (filet mignon), it would have been awesome.
