We had 11 days at this hotel at the beginning of August.
I would rate this hotel 2*, maybe 3* at a push!
Corridors and communal areas were dirty and extremely old and tired looking. Cockroaches left on floor for a number of days before being swept up. Decor very dated. Sat in the bar one day only to be dripped on by a leak from above.
Pool area very tired and sunbeds a joke! Pool not big enough for the hotel.
Thomson's rep Ann was most unhelpful, quite rude in fact! Other rep equally as unhelpful. We were told it was only a 4* star because of the amazing views, it didn't matter about anything else.
Our bathroom was so old and mouldy- desperately in need of an update.
Bathrooms in communal areas I wouldn't go in after the first visit! Disgusting!
On a positive note the view was amazing! Half of the staff were very nice, especially Alec and the entertainment team, they were brilliant. Other half of staff were shocking, especially front desk.
Food OK but nothing special, usually found something to eat.
Drinks on the all inclusive package were pretty basis. Cocktails were a joke!!
I do not usually put reviews on here and very rarely complain, but had to write a review this time as I would hate for another family to be as disappointed with this "4* star" hotel as we were!
We made the most of this holiday by getting out and seeing places. We especially enjoyed our trip to Gozo and Mdina.
Will not be using Thomson's again as don't trust the star rating system now!

The hotel advertised itself as 4 stars which is quiet a stretch, the rooms were average but the lobby toilets were gross with brown water coming out of the taps one day.
The beach was lovely but very few sun beds so we had to get down to the beach before 8 in order to get some. The staff were fine but not particularly welcoming or friendly and a few waiters were a bit surly with us. Over all the hotel was fine, not particularly bad and not especially good, just fine.

This hotel Is in a great location , it is right on a small sandy beach and all of the bedrooms have sea views. The food is very good and most of the staff are very friendly, the hotel rep was very helpfully too. Our room was good , freshly painted and clean. Some of the communal areas are badly in need of refurbishment and the toilets by the limelight lounge and the pool are disgusting , not very clean and badly in need of updating. Thus said they seem to be starting renovation work so hopefully the toilets will be revamped too. We would not hesitate to return to this hotel as the positive features far outweighs the negative points I have mentioned.

Room tip: All rooms have sea views

Stayed at the Mellieha Bay Hotel for 2 weeks in July 2016, travelling with two 17 year olds. We booked with Tomson Holidays and arranged a private taxi from the airport. The taxi was waiting for us on arrival and on the journey to the hotel the driver (Mr Turner) pointed out some interesting landmarks and places of interest.
We stayed in a ground floor room overlooking the pool. The room was fine, it was a bit cramped as three of us were sharing and an extra bed had been put in. The room was cleaned daily to a good standard.
The hotel has its own private beach with sunbeds and parasols. These get taken early. The sea is lovely and clear and safe for children to paddle in etc.
There is a water sports shop on site and we booked paragliding (70 euros for two). We were collected from the hotel’s jetty and taken across the bay. The paragliding experience was excellent.
The food in the hotel is as you would expect of a 4* all inclusive – something for everyone. The poolside snacks are excellent.
We didn’t go to any of the shows – it’s just not our thing!
Had a couple of days out. We spent a day on the hop on hop off bus and went to the market on Sunday at Marsalxlokk (a lovely fishing village). We booked with the lady in reception as she was better value than the Tomson rep (Anne) who was hopeless.
Overall a relaxing holiday. We will certainly be visiting Malta again but will stay in Valetta next time for more of a ‘city break’ holiday.

Just spent 10 days at MBH and thoroughly enjoyed a stress free relaxing holiday.

Room......we had a room in B block on first floor......basic comfy bedroom with small balcony and fantastic view of the bay and Mellieha.
Beds very comfortable.
Shower/bath fine with no shortage of hot water.
Decor.....needs updating, shabby in parts.
Air conditioning....fine but a little noisy.
Maid service.......excellent....clean sheets regularly and room cleaned everyday. Towels changed whenever we wanted.

We chose to go all inclusive and it was fantastic to be able to get food/drinks all day in various locations in the complex.
Breakfast.....plenty of choice...hot and cold...air conditioned dining room which is quite large...small area outside which sometimes was full when we went.

Lunch....we never went to dining room for lunch but had meals at the pool/lido areas which was great.

Dinner.....we ate in dining room 8 times and usually got a table outside...good variety of food always hot and plenty of it.......usually had wine which was nice. Three times we went to poolside bbq which was excellent.

Staff.....most staff cheerful/chatty and helpful....especially Rika.

Wifi.......don' think they should advertise as free wifi throughout because it is very hit and miss.

All in all we had a wonderful holiday where we enjoyed swimming in the lido and snorkelling in very clear sea water....we only went to the pools twice as preferred the sea. There are plenty of chair beds but people were still putting towels out long before 9am in order to reserve them.....so if you want a particular bed that's what you have to do......hotel says they remove unattended towels before 9am but that was not happening.

We would go back to this hotel although am not sure it should be classed as 4 star.

Room tip: B block is good if you want to be close to dining room/lido. First floor up offer better views.
