Nice wide beach in a provincial park. You have to pay about $15 per car for day use of the beach, but it is well worth it. It is a spacious beach with a dog section in the east end. The most eastern part of it is off leash. Since it is in a provincial park, there are no stores what so ever. It has a very natural feel in every aspect which includes the maintenance. There is a bit of natural debris, but did not see any human garbage. The walk to the beach from the lot is a couple of minutes, but no big deal. I agree with Gary K that this is the best dog beach in Ontario. All people we met there were friendly and no aggressive dogs. Also the rules were obeyed with the dogs in the dog area also. The water was very warm probably due to the shallow part running far out into the water.

We took a lovely drive to this beach as a day trip. The lighthouse is standard, the new marine museum with submarine is going to add a boost of interest to this area. One has to wonder how they got this huge beast on shore! The beach itself is lovely and quite large. there are plenty of picnic tables some in the sun and some in the shade. There is adequate bathroom facilities and the snack shack on the beach sells typical beach fare at reasonable prices including .25 small freezies for little ones. There are several eating places just above the beach in the town area as well as a grocery store and variety. A cute get away village with a beach for a day trip.
Recommended time varies based on if you visit the museum and then take some time at the beach and walk around the few stores.

The dog beach is huge & beautiful, same as the main beach right next to it.Great for swimming with your dog. Nice sandy beach with sandbar after sandbar going out into the lake. Part of it is an off leash exercise area, great for playing fetch on or in. Oh ya the camping is pretty nice too, big mostly private clean sites, new clean washrooms and lots of them. Huge playground & field, short and long hiking trails. The only con is the distance to the beach from the campground but it is well worth the drive or hike. The town of Port Burwell next to the park has everything you need for supplies, restaurants, a museum including a real submarine plus another beach (volleyball tournatments). Also lots of fishing available on Lake Erie.

Port Burwell is one of our favourite provincial parks. Would love to go every year!! Beautiful large beach (though you have to drive to it, then walk over a very large sand dune). The water is usually warm, and is shallow for quite a distance out. The campsites and amenities are also nice. Well maintained and clean. Port Burwell (the town) is also nice. Small restaurants, ice cream places. As well, the drive there is usually nice, no heavy traffic on weekends like some other places in Ontario.

This has the best beach in Ontario. They have a great dog beach too. The camp ground is well run. The facilities are always clean. Nice little camp store at the beach.
