The exterior of the Hotel looks great, and so do the photos you look at on the internet, but once you are there, you are confronted with an understaffed hotel which was almost empty when we arrived by taxi. I required assistance to get 2 pieces of luggage, my mom's wheelchair, my 85 y/o mom from out of the taxi, and no one was around to even tell us where to check-in. When I did figure out where to go (mind you! I had to leave my mom on the basement floor, on her w/c, alone, to go to the first floor reception. The clerk appeared drowsy, and uninviting or friendly. After registration, I went and got my mom, left suitcases in the lobby, and returned later to pick them up. We checked the room out and it was IMPOSSIBLE to maneuver across this huge column that was the first thing I saw when we opened the door. An open w/c would not have fit, so I asked for another. The second room had an A/C unit that did not work and when it was repaired, it was a bit noisy. The shower room door leaked and the soap dish inside the shower stall had a lose screw and every time we took a shower, the soap kept falling off the dish. The staff was friendly, but very lay-back. My mom fell out of bed; probably because we got a Full bed for two; however, the bed was VERY high for an 85 y/o woman, and so she fell. Staff was quick to respond when I called. I told them mom fell out of bed (fell on her buttocks), and they came immediately to help pick her up. The hotel reminded me of a hotel ready to close. The location was excellent, about 10 minute walk to the Basilica; however, taking a w/c to the Basilica was a big ordeal. The street heading to it, was very steep and I was barely able to control the w/c; had to get my mom to walk a bit, in the hot sun.
