We recently enjoyed 3 magic nights here with our two girls, 7 and 3.5. The accomodation is brilliant - high spec, excellent linen and beds, ample space, a few books and toys for the little ones, and Jill and Ray ensured there was a wonderful array of breakfast provisions which lasted the entirety of our stay. Of course there was the all important wood burning stove which brings a lovely charm to everything. I am fairly fussy with accomodation and I could not fault this place.
The farm is just the right size and has just enough ‘to do’ for a 3 night stay. We were privileged to encounter wombats, Roos, lambs and fed the friendly Dexters everyday. The landscape is just gorgeous.
As for Jill and Ray, well so are they. Lovely sweet and genuine hosts who cherish their land and their creatures. They were very accommodating of our girls requests to feed the animals, go on tractor rides and just answer their frequent questions...
Being a working farm there is nothing contrived or twee about this place (unlike other ‘staged’ farm stays) so you will experience a small snapshot of authenticity of farm life.
As there is no stove and if you have kids, I suggest you take a prepared meal to heat in the microwave to save the hassle of leaving the estate for dinner on the first night. Plenty of close options to eat in other villages. The general store makes excellent coffee and we also took lunch at Bendooley estate on the way home which is also just lovely. Thanks for your hospitality Jill and Ray. You are on a winner and your beautiful hearts make it that way too!
Had a wonderful time at Exeter Farmstay. Our 3 young kids loved watching and feeding the animals and the tractor rides. Also enjoyed sitting in front of the fire each night as well as the invigorating walk to the hidden cabin and wombat spotting!
Jill and Ray were exceptional hosts with great local knowledge. The accomodation was first class with lots of thoughtful touches. Loved it!
Myself and my partner recently stayed at Exeter Farm Stay over the long weekend, we had the most wonderful and relaxing long weekend there was so much to do and see! Jill was more than accommodating with information on the area and what to do and where to eat. I can’t wait to stay here again, we will definitely be back, we have already had multiple people ask us for the link and where we stayed!
We had a fabulous long weekend at the Exeter Farm Stay!
Jill & Ray were wonderful hosts. They were happy to share a conversation, gave tips on local attractions, and show us around their farm. Our stay was made extra special by our young daughter getting to feed the sheep, and get up close to the farm animals.
The guest house was beautifully presented, spacious and has stunning views over the farmlands. We had everything we needed for our stay, including books, toys and a high chair for our daughter.
We would definitely recommend the farm stay, and hope to return again soon!
My family (husband, 7 year old and 11 month old baby) and I stayed here last weekend and loved the experience. Ray and Jill were gracious hosts happy to accommodate our daughter's enthusiasm to participate in feeding the animals, ride on the "tractor", pick from the veggie garden and ask a thousand and one questions! The setting is just beautiful, quiet and still, magnificient old trees and an interesting walk to the sunset cabin which we even managed with a pram! The accommodation was very comfortable - huge rooms that were beautifully appointed and with thoughtful inclusions such as toys and books for our children.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. 5 minutes drive from the main town of Bundanoon, a short drive to Bowral and some of the great restaurants in the southern highland. Jill and Ray were great hosts, very accommodating and friendly, and were quick to respond to any query we had. Our favorite pass time was to sit at the dinning table drinking tea while looking at kangaroos jumping from a distance. It was such a wonderful and relaxing weekend. We would definitely go back for a visit or visits.
We had 3 nights here and we can't wait to come back. I ordinarily wouldn't stay in the same place twice as much as I love it, but this one is the exception.
Being so close to Sydney (1.5 hours), it's not only convenient, but gorgeous. Jill and Ray have done a beautiful job on the house (warm, welcoming and with everything you need), and they are probably some of the kindest and most welcoming people I have ever met. Our daughter (4 yo) in particular loved the experience. Jill and Ray were so kind in letting her be a part of the farm, feeding the cows, tractor rides, sheep & alpaca feeding and more.
I'd recommend taking the provided picnic basket and instead of doing the sunset walk to the cabin for wine and cheese (we subbed for roasted marshmellows and eucalyptus tea in the billy can - also a great experience!) instead trying out the walk to the cabin at breakfast time. It was beautiful and shady and the nearby dam was a fun experience for our daughter.
The food Jill provides is excellent - homemade muesli, delicious yoghurt, farm fresh milk, roasted nuts, fresh fruits, choccie, milk, tea and more - the whole lot is just divine.
Our experience of the area was also fun - great local food and restaurants, a glow worm cave adventure only about 15 minutes from the property, plenty of wombat and kangaroo encounters, a trip to Berrima's Historic Manor and Maze and bushwalks. Lots to do and all in close proximity.
As mentioned before, we look forward to coming back. I can't recommend Exeter Farm Stay highly enough - thank you so much Jill and Ray for giving us such a unique and beautiful experience - we truly appreciated every moment.
