We just came back from a perfect week at Excellence Cancun. There is one thing that stands out in this resort(I have been to many), and that's the outstanding staff! I just can't say enough about the bartenders, waiters, maids, etc. that made our vacation so perfect. Secondly, some resorts really skimp on help. This is particularly noticeable at bars. This is not the case at Excellence Cancun.

The beach was the best of the best amongst the other resorts. The beach was groomed many times though out the day. Like walks along the beach, you can go miles in either direction.

Food was very good at all the restaurants and we visited all but one. We did not wait to get in to any restaurant. Typically we arrived between 6-7pm.

As noted above, we have stayed at many other Riveria Maya resorts. Excellence Cancun is a smaller resort allowing one to get around easier. This allows you to meet others easier and see them again during your stay.

The thing I remember most about the entertainment was the high quality of the various bands/singers. This was very entertaining.

It was a "Perfect Week". We will be back.

The Excellence is a great place. On this trip we met some very good people. There were three couples from Nova Scotia, A pair from Kitimat, a couple from St.Thomas, another two from Crowsnest Pass, and there was Mary and Dan from Tennesee,a newly weds from New York. Everyone we met were so much fun and upbeat.
The resort is just fabulous . Staff is great, rooms good ,food is more than I could eat. No one should leave this place feeling hungary. The only thing I did not care for , and it was minor, was the entertainment.

Had a amazing time on our honeymoon, from the moment we arrived till we left the service was spot on.
Food and all drinks were outstanding.
French restaurant especially.
The only thing i was not impressed with was the beach, in fact disappointed. We have been to cayo coco in Cuba and were blown away with the beach there but this did nothing for us.The beaches in general that we saw in mexico were nothing in comparison to Cuba.
Would defiantly recommend the hotel however if you are a beach person this may not be the best option.

My fourth visit to Excellence Riviera was every bit as good as the first three. I adore this place, and it's getting even better because the staff recognizes me now, so it feels like home, from the moment I arrive to the moment I leave.

I tip my hat to all of the staff, but one in particular stood out as truly excellent. Enricho, a manager at Toscana, the Italian restaurant, went above and beyond. His strawberry flambee was to die for!! His friendly, yet professional demeanor made us all want to come back again as soon as possible. Kudos to Enricho.

Everything was top notch. I have no complaints. It's my place, and I'm having a hard time imagining going somewhere else now.

We had a great time here. We usually stay in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen so we can get out and about once in a while, but this was a relaxing change of pace. The restaurants were amazing. The steak was exceptional by the pool, the japanese was fun, and even the French restaurant was great. Mexican was good too! We located the grill on the beach on the last day which is nice if you don't feel like getting out of your swim suit to eat. They do enforce the dress code even at the buffet. First time we had good desserts in Mexico. Watch for the chocolate cake, it was awesome! Pools were spacious and quiet or noisy depending on what you were looking for. Floatie rafts are free of charge if you can find them. Wait staff was very accomodating everywhere we went.
Only had one problem on the first night. They upgraded us to a swim up room on the first floor which faced the courtyard in the center of the hotel. LOUD band at night when we were ready for bed. Sounded like they were in our room. They moved us the next afternoon to a very quiet room and sent a bottle of champagne for the inconvenience. Tipping may not be required but leaving a buck or two sure does get a lot of appreciation.
We took a fun bike tour with Gabbi to Puerto Morelos. If you haven't been on a bike for a long time, it may not be a good time to test your leg strength. Lasts about 90 min. and you can run to the drug store if you have forgotten something from home.
The shows at night were OK, the Circus was by far the best. You could hear crickets chirping during the Mexican show as sometimes Mexican humor can be a bit odd. Ask for premium liquors or else you get the local cheap brand. The Lemon Drop at the Martini bar was the best!
We would definitely go back for a relaxing vacation.
