I just loved most everything about this place, We sat in front of the fire, Service was super, casual, comfortable, nice wine list with some local gems. My vegetarian made me feel as if I was at Greens in SF

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Post Ranch Inn and it may be the most beautiful hotel in the United States in my opinion. About 30 seconds from the Inn is the Big Sur Bakery and you have got to go there for dinner. I had the best salad ever and it’s a iceburg lettuce with sharp Wisconsin cheddar, sprouts, apples and an amazing cidery Ranch like vinaigrette. We got the skirt steak and a mushroom pizza and just sort of shared. You will likely need reservations so I would suggest making them just to be safe. The place is small and cozy and the tables are somewhat close together, but this is part of the charm. If you are staying at Post Ranch they will drive you over and pick you up which saves you the hassle of parking and what not. I would have posted pics of the beautiful food but it was a bit too dark. Enjoy!

The baked goods are to die for. The lunch options are random and tasty. The dinner menu is famous. Enough said.

Sure, one can dine at Sierra Mar/Post Ranch ($125/pp excluding wine) or at Sur House/Ventana ($90/pp excluding wine) or a few other restaurants around the Hwy 1, but none will have better food served by gracious wait staff. Our firsts of sautéed chanterelles and smoked salmon toast, and mains of half roast chicken (sublime) and scallops were fantastic. Likely for a fraction of a cost of the big two above.

Every time we go to Big Sur we have lunch and/or dinner here. The food is always great and there are always interesting items on the menu. The service is terrific and the people are very knowledgable and friendly
