We are so glad we stayed here! Everything for the guest has been considered here. Not over the top in luxury, but we felt wonderfully pampered and slept perfectly if you are thinking of riding, I would urge you to stay here. If you just want to visit Faial, I would also urge you to stay here, rather than Horta. You'll get a real feel of the island.
We originally wanted to ride (the other part of the business) and then decided it would be so nice to retire there for the night. Little did we know it had been opened only 5 months!
We arrived in low season, but the weather was very fine. We paid for a transfer from Horta and were greeted by Victor. He was so welcoming! He showed us a bit of the area while we drove to Cedros.
Once there, the lodge and rooms were marvelous. Such care has been taken in the construction, architecture and design (on an old building base of volcanic rock). It is designed like a traditional Azorean home in interior design. Every appointment was considered - the bath, the beds, the common room. We checked in with Cristina, and asked to have dinner (extra charge, worth it). We relaxed and unpacked then walked a few minutes to the little town and had lunch at the "snack-bar". Everyone was there from the town. Then we walked around a bit.
After our ride, we had dinner - which was delicious. Victor and his son joined us (a total of four, we were the only guests there) and they were so interesting and fun.
We only spent on night - we definitely would splurge and stay two nights next time! We would have enjoyed riding two days, but only had time for one. We loved every bit of this stay, from the room to the owner to the setting.
