Thanks for sharing! That's great your kids got to talk to the HAM radio operators!
This lighthouse is a nice place to visit. It is off the beaten path, but not too far. You can climb to the top for only $5. The gift shop is quite nice and has modern bathrooms. The grounds are well kept and the lighthouse is in good condition. Would recommend.
Thank you for your great review! :)
The views was breathtaking we had a nice time on point prim take your time the kid really enjoys the view from the top of the lighthouse only 5$ pps and it contributes to helps maintain the place and you have to stop nearby to the chowder house
$$$$ but really good
So glad you enjoyed your visit (and the view!).
breath taking views after you climb the stairs (more like ladders, there is NO elevator)
make sure you bring the camera because there is NO WAY you are going down and up again. Enjoy yourself . . . . .
Thanks for your comments. It IS a long climb, but well worth the view!
We were at Point Prim last week for a girls get away.
This lighthouse allows the option of GOING INSIDE and CLIMBING TO THE TOP - which we discovered is RARE and not available at the other lighthouses we visited in PEI. The fee to climb to the top is $5 pp, but you can enter the main floor for free.
TIPS: wear proper shoes not flip flops. Bring your camera. Take your time/be patience.
Only 1 person can go up or come down at a time. People are waiting for other to go up or come down. There are 4 levels to climb, one of which is the Lighthouse Keeper's bedroom. The spaces inside are VERY SMALL.
You are literally climbing UP A LADDER STYLE SET OF STAIRS. When you come down, you have to figure out how to come down backwards. It's tricky. Small children or someone who is afraid of heights could have a very difficult time.
The 360 degree view from the top is spectacular.
The gift shop has clean bathrooms.
Ask the gift shop clerk to BLOW THE HORN they have so you can hear the sound. The Lighthouse's light is on display there also. If it's not "on" ask her to turn it on.
The employee there was EXTREMELY NICE and HELPFUL and VERY WILLING to share everything she knew about lighthouses and the family who first was the keeper of that particular one.
NOTE: we learned this location is where CRUISE SHIPS bus passengers interested in a day trip to a lighthouse.
Great tips, especially the flip-flops - excellent point. Thanks for your review!
Second time at the lighthouse..great history, excellent location! If you love lighthouses, this definitely a stop!
Thanks for stopping by, Gabbie! :)
