Went for a family meal. On approaching the bar was greeted with a stern faced blonde lady who appeared to be in charge. Gave the impression she was vexed as we tried to decide what we would like to drink, happy and jolly are not words I would use to describe "mine host". I asked for ice in my drink and got a very curt "we don't have ice". What kind of pub doesn't have ice? If the reply started with I'm sorry, but we are having problems and have no ice or similar, ok you accept it a little better. We were rushed to our table seated and left. My husband had to go and ask for menus. A long wait ensued, and certainly not over busy. The food arrived and was all very nice, definitely no complaints and good portion size. The waitress could do with a little honing of her skills and questions, such as , can I get you anything else, and not do you want anything else, like it would be a problem. The plates are heavy making it a little difficult to clear the table but as the table was cleared I found myself apologising for being in the way. The young man who served us appeared to be a "newby" being taught but was extremely friendly and polite.
