Went for a family meal. On approaching the bar was greeted with a stern faced blonde lady who appeared to be in charge. Gave the impression she was vexed as we tried to decide what we would like to drink, happy and jolly are not words I would use to describe "mine host". I asked for ice in my drink and got a very curt "we don't have ice". What kind of pub doesn't have ice? If the reply started with I'm sorry, but we are having problems and have no ice or similar, ok you accept it a little better. We were rushed to our table seated and left. My husband had to go and ask for menus. A long wait ensued, and certainly not over busy. The food arrived and was all very nice, definitely no complaints and good portion size. The waitress could do with a little honing of her skills and questions, such as , can I get you anything else, and not do you want anything else, like it would be a problem. The plates are heavy making it a little difficult to clear the table but as the table was cleared I found myself apologising for being in the way. The young man who served us appeared to be a "newby" being taught but was extremely friendly and polite.

Quieter at lunchtime so lots of attention by staff. We chose the seniors menu. One two or three courses. Smaller portions but plenty to eat, and quality maintained. The main menu vas larger portions and lots of choice

We’d never been here before, and when we walked in we didn’t know whether to seat ourselves or wait. There was no one to ask so we asked the barman when we got a drink. Staff very good and once they knew we wanted a table they were very helpful. Great homemade pie, would recommend

The service we received was excellent, but the menu choices were a little disappointing and further let down by several items not being available on the day of our visit.
The food when served was also disappointing and for what we ordered it was overpriced.
The pub lacked atmosphere and general warmth, it is a shame because the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Been here couple of times in the past and has been ok. Went for a carvery and at £10.95 a head expected a lot better. 3 thin slices of meat, the roasted veg was cold and undercooked carrots not cleaned properly and gritty overall was disappointed. Service was ok
