Although this grand hotel has been around for ages, it has been well maintained and is a pleasure to visit. The doormen rush to assist you. Guests are warmly welcomed. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Everything in our room worked. That doesn’t happen in quite a few high class hotels. The black and white marble bathroom and deep luxurious bath were a highlight. The hotel staff are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. They actually look as is if they want to be of assistance rather than being forced to be nice by the boss. These young staff often have to deal with rather obnoxious individuals who believe the hotel was created specifically for them, and from what I saw, they deal with everyone in a helpful, courteous and professional manner. They impressed me more than the room, and the room was pretty good.

Room Tip: You get what you pay for. Actualy that's not a tip. It's common sense.

I'm a Canberra local but stayed at the Hyatt for a special occasion. That gives you an idea of how good this hotel is. I expected excellence from this hotel based on the many functions and dinners I had been to, but it still exceeded my expectations. All other hotel managers take note - if you're looking for the highest benchmark for service then stay a night at this hotel. Everyone, no matter how small their role, will go out of their way to make you feel special. The public areas are beautiful and you could spend your entire trip just sitting in the lounge area pretending you are living in an opulent 1920s mansion.

Room Tip: Top tip - for an authentic experience, ask for a room in the heritage section of the hotel.

Canberra is increasingly a great tourist town with a wealth of museums and galleries. It is therefore odd that there are still so few 5 star hotels. The Hyatt is still the most attractive with lovely public areas and a high standard of service. If you are a business visitor and politics is your business this is still the place to stay. While the entry of hotels like the Realm have given the Hyatt a run for its money, the Hyatt is still the place to meet. The room service is good but the food at the only available restaurant is pretty ordinary. Rooms are a good size and style if a little souless - the bathrooms are huge and spotless marble but a little dated. If you are staying in Canberra for business this hotel is a great if slightly pricey choice.

Stayed here for twice in 2 years for business meeting. Facility well maintained and catered for government officials. Nice high tea in the lobby.
Dining at the hotel restaurant also quite high standard and well presented.
Need to take cab to city or drive on your own.

Stayed for a couple of nights with mixed feeling, no wifi Internet access is still very poor as most top, hotels will include this now. In house movies overpriced, but room service was good. Good layout of rooms with good space. Service was excellent and very attentive. Good location for galleries but a little far to walk to CBD. All Niall I would recommend if you are looking for contempory accomadation.

I have stayed at the Hyatt in Canberra recently for a couple of business trips and came away very impressed. The hotel offers old school charm with it's sprawling layout and far from modern decor. The rooms I've experienced were very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are excellent, especially if black and white marble is to your taste, and featured a lovely big bath and truly refreshing separate shower.

I found that the staff at the Hyatt were almost all exceptional. Friendly, attentive and warm. Checking in and out has generally been a breeze there, and the staff in the club lounge (Ambassador's Lounge I think it was called) were genuinely nice.

I'd have no hesitation in staying there again for business or a leisure visit.

My wife and I have just spent two nights at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. We found the service
excellent the staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. The rooms were first class with
comfortable beds and superb bathroom. We had breakfast for two mornings and there is a good choice between a continental breakfast or a full buffet service. The evening meals were
excellent with the chef catering for my special diet. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
