Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: The name 'Dolphin Marine Magic' is a trading name for the iconic Pet Porpoise Pool Pty Limited. Dolphin Marine Magic is located on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW, in the city of Coffs Harbour and sits approximately midway between Sydney and Brisbane. We are very close to the jetty precinct and adjacent to the Coffs Creek and we have been 'edutaining' (educating/entertaining) and engaging visitors for more than four decades. Over the years we have won many business and tourism awards. Dolphin Marine Magic is a fully accredited marine park with the regional Zoo and Aquarium Association. We are licensed by the Department of Primary Industries to exhibit the animals we have in our care. On Boxing Day in 1970, the marine park opened as a rescue and rehabilitation centre for native marine animals, and we continue with this work. We have a Rehabilitation Licence issued by NSW - Office of Environment & Heritage - NSW National Parks & Wildlife Services. Additionally, we work closely with our local branch of NSW National Parks & Wildlife Services and have a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with them on how we will work together for the benefit of our native marine animals.

From the outside it looks tiny and a bit of a dump - it's not much bigger inside but it is well staffed and the animals appear well looked after.

Entry for an adult is $30 and the two photos I had was another $30 so for me on my own it was a bit pricey - for a family of four I imagine it's even more so.

The show was quite good (not up to the SeaWorld standards however) but the staff were excellent and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing.

By far the appeal of this place is the hands-on nature. You're able (and encouraged) to interact with dolphins, seals, penguins, etc and the animals all seem to love it! Even though the place was fairly busy, everybody got a chance to touch, pat, feel and kiss the animals!

If you're anywhere near Coffs Harbour, or even if you aren't this is really worth a visit. Admission is $30 max and for that you can stroke the dolphins, play ball with them, get a kiss off them & the sea lions, feed penguins, turtles, sharks & other fish, and of course watch the dolphin show including apparently the world's first dolphin who can balance a ball on his nose! You also get the chance during the show to come up & feed the dolphins, play catch with a sea lion and brush their teeth.

Loads of fun for anyone who likes animals, no matter what your age, nationality etc. you'll enjoy yourself here! It is really small but because of that it feels like your money is going to good use rather than to some corporate greedy thing like SeaWorld etc.

Amazing
The adverts call it magic and they're oh so right. We are completely impressed by the integrity of the marine rescue operations and respect given to beautiful ocean mammals. Thats not the magic, thats day to day operations at the PPP.

Our magic moment was when the audience had gathered by the pool after the dolphin show. Everyone had lots of chances to dip their hands over the edge of the pool and make contact with the stars of the show. The smooth silky skin and wise eyes were enchanting to be sure.

But, the magic happened after a few passes by us when the dolphin slowed his speed and we noticed a beautiful downs syndrome child was wiggling her fingers above the water. The dolphin moved under her fingers and waited for tickles. I don't know whose smile was bigger. The grinning dolphin or the girl who stroked the dolphin's smooth skin and whispered secrets only he could hear. No one in the crowd said a word until she lifted her hand and waved good bye. The dolphin lifted his head and looked back at her as he swam to the next person.

How a marine mammal could have such a connection to a land born human is a mystery, and thats why I felt magic had happened!

Every Time I am in Coffs Harbour I go Here. It is an animal park with Sulphur crested cockatoo's, Pea-cocks, a wombat, a fish and turtle pool with underwater viewing area, a snake show last time I was there in January 2010, and performing dolphins and seals. The animals are all rescue animals which cannot be released back into their native habitat.
Zippy and Bucky are the perforning dolphins that race around the pool, jump up to take fish from a pole, catch balls, wave with thier tails, jump through hoops and bring the audience a giant toothbrush to have their teeth brushed.
Three members of the audience are usually asked to volunteer to hold up the pole with the fish on the end to feed to the dolphins. They normally choose poeple who have a birthday or long distance visitors. The seals come out during the show inbetween dolphin acts, some of the tricks they do is to pick up a plastic bottle and put it in a rubbish bin, catch hoops around their neck, balance on their front fins, clap, and wave, and play dead. Soloman is the largest Seal and the star of the seal acts and he grunts into the microphone, performs and balances fish on his nose until he is told there are seagulls after his fish, then he flips the fish up in the air and eats it might fast.
The children and audience are able to come down and each feed the seals a fish during the show.
Also there is a park photographer who will take photos of you with the seals giving you a kiss in the cheek, and also the dolphins giving you a kiss on the cheek which are available to purchase on your way out.
The performance is on at 10am and 1.30 I believe and lasts just over an hour.
Do go you will have a great time
