“Great hotel - just don't try to get a drink at the bar”

Having had a very disappointing stay at the Sydney Four Seasons a couple of weeks beforehand I was not quite sure what to expect from the Shangri-La, however it was a much better experience.

Check-in was quick an courteous - rooms were large and with a great view (and much cheaper than tiny rooms at four seasons!) and also very quiet - we had a grand harbour view room. Beds were very comfortable and bathroom was large, clean and luxuriously furnished.

The only negative point was the service at the bar on the top floor - I went up for a nightcap and was blanked by at least 3 members of staff as I stood waiting at the door for a table - eventually I had to ask one if I was really invisible! The staff in the bar were some of the rudest and most arrogant people I have ever met and certainly should not be working in the 'hospitality' business..

However, as long as you do not go to the bar the hotel is very good and I would certainly recommend it.

The hotel was so beautiful and the staff were so friendly. Our room was spectacular and the view was amazing. We stayed for 4 nights and could have stayed longer.

Had a bite to eat at the Shangri-lA in Sydney...it was magnificent!!!...wonderful service...delicious food..great value@!!!!

We stayed for 4 nights during the weekend and we found Shangri-La hotel to be as excellent as usual. As we have been to Sydney several times we opted for the Executive Darling Harbour View Room.
We checked-in in the early afternoon, the formalities were very fast and we found we were upgraded to the corner room on the 25th. floor.
The room was very spacious, with a small lobby at the entrance' furnished with a couch and a flat screen TV, connected with the bedroom through a corridor where is located the bathroom.
From the bedroom there is the partial view of Darling Harbour, while from the lobby we faced the high rise buildings behind the hotel.
The suite was very clean and well attended, with free wifi available in the room and all the expected amenities.
We found the service throughout the hotel to be very good and the fantastic location made the rest.
The only service we used during our stay was the Altitude Bar with its breathtaking view over the whole Sydney Harbour.
Overall an excellent stay whether you plan stay for business or leisure.

What a dissapointed. Booked hotel via centurion travel fine hotels and resorts. At check in lady was rude and told me room was not ready till 4. It was 11 am.. When finally got room it was fab but no upgrade. Bar on top floor was SHOCKING. people in shorts and flit flops. Not shangrila. Went to lobby bar where we had ti BEG fir service. The bar lady was far to busy chatting. I noticed at least 3 other couples having to walk up to complain and ask ti be served. At breakfast staff did not seem to mind that a lady walked in in her dressing gown for breakfast. At check out an even ruder lady. I have called Amex centurion to make sure they dont let anyone stay here again. I just can't believe shangrila is associated with such bad service.

Stayed one night. Company function. Got a harbour view room. Nice ambience. Easy access to by car for a city hotel. Recommend

I frequently travel to Sydney for business and have stayed in several high quality hotels - almost all of them in fact. I had the pleasure of staying at the Shangri-la last week (having stayed previously) and was not disappointed. It's the little touches that appeal to me - I stayed in a deluxe room with a Darling Harbour view - lovely room and spacious bathroom. I adore the amenities and the generous provision of them - some so called 4-5 star hotels do not even provide slippers (which I believe are hygenic & essential) - this hotel provides it all. The little box of complimentary chocolates was very nice, the room service food tasty and timely (I really appreciate the Asian cuisine) and the staff lovely. And it's not too far at all from the financial district if you need to be there for business.

I will be back for certain.
