We arrived on foot after catching the airport train to Circular Quay. The entrance is down an alley which on this Friday night was dotted with a couple of ladies of the night - interesting start to our stay!
Our flight was very delayed due to a flight attendant fainting so we were initially relieved we had not made a restaurant booking; alas this relief was to be short lived. We were directed to The Hemisphere for a late supper; to get there was a journey back in time to one's early twenties jostling through crowds of beautiful young things out clubbing in the bar. Finally made it to the lift only to be turned away by a staff member who indicated that our shoes did not fit the dress code - another flashback to one's early twenties! Unfortunately the staff member was unable to direct us to another eatery within The Establishment. It was after 10pm by this stage and we were pretty hungry having left Melbourne at 4pm. We wandered around only to find most places closed or full; finally out of desperation we settled on a salad at Maccas copping yet another flashback to our early twenties!
The accommodation itself was pretty cool; we loved the exposed timber in the ceilings. As other reviewers have noted there is no view, well there is but it is into an alley and I kind of liked it's shady character.
The bed was comfy although the two soft pillows were too flat and the third pillow too hard; sounds fussy in a Goldilocks kind of way I know. The bathroom was beautiful, huge with a great shower, spa bath and glorious toiletries.
Best of all we loved the Gin Garden for breakfast; they were able to accommodate gluten free with the package we had purchased and the ambience was light and airy, a great start to the day!

Stayed on a flying business trip to the fabulous sydney cbd area
Nice stay & very proffesional, but not what i would call 5 star luxury no views or great decor
the basic concept is trendy but not a x factor for me, more that place for a one or two night stay thats well located, one issue the glass bins in alley emptied very early, i might have got worse room and as I rise early so not a big problem.
Great bars & restaurants to enjoy in the building, dinner was the highlight of the stay here
If you are one of the urban cool crowd you will probably love it.

A very cool boutique hotel tucked away in a alley in the centre of Sydney. The well styled rooms are quite spacious with large bathrooms, and they instantly feel like your own very cool pad in the middle of the city. Its the sort of hotel which makes you feel a bit glamourous and sexy - like you want to dress up and go out. And given that Sydney's legendary Establishment bar is literally on the premises - it all works out well... It is the perfect hotel to stay in if you are after somewhere stylish, cool and a bit special - ideal for a romantic weekend away. The only fault I can think of is that there is really no view to speak of - so if views of Sydney are important to you, it's not your hotel. Other than that, great!

I have stayed at The Establishment a few times - I like it because of its location, its cool and Deanne (?) at Reception.

The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are great. I love the technology in the rooms but dont expect a view. The hotel is on a small lane in the CBD of Sydney so you dont get the noise of traffic but because The Establishment has some great restaurants and a bar it can be a bit noisy on the weekends if you are in the wrong room.

Est is a great restaurant and the bar off the Lobby is good for a quiet drink, the main bar is busy on the weekends.

Deanne (?) has been there for a few years - she remembers my name but I cant remember hers!

Room Tip: Make sure you get one away from Tank the night club if you stay on the weekend

I have been lucky enough to stay in this hotel 3 times over the last 2 years and I can honestly say all 3 visits were completely faultless.

I love the style and decor, the bedrooms (all slightly different it would seem) are very well designed, extremely luxurious and are well equipped with toiletries, iPad and cookies!

The bars have a great vibe and the Gin Garden is definitely worth a visit.

There is a good sized gym available for guests.

The staff are very efficient and friendly. Really helpful when we needed assistance with storing luggage and forgotten items.

One of the rooms we stayed in did overlook the bar which was fairly noisy but there were earplugs provided if we needed them.

Location wise this hotel is perfect for being in the centre of Sydney, 5 mins walk to the ferries at Circular Quay.

If you are going to Sydney and this hotel fits your budget, book it! You won't be sorry.

Hoping to go back one day .......
