“Great location, not so great accomodation!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2012

It's all very much like a modern crematoriam, dark curtains everywhere even at the spa. The rooms are good but the bathrooms are average (nowhere to hang your rinsed through smalls). The reception staff are distant and sullen and not that in the know about Sydney. They were also constantly looking down at their pc's and looked shocked each time we greeted them!! A great place though, next to everything and everywhere in Sydney but not a place we'd return to.

Very limited services at this hotel. Breakfast buffet is extremely expensive with limited choice and poor quality. Rooms are ok but beds are very soft. I asked for a wake up call as I had jet lag - didn't receive it. It was raining and the hotel had no umbrellas. Wifi - very expensive.
Overall service was indifferent. I moved half way through the stay.

If, like me, you spend countless nights in hotel rooms you will know that getting into a room that's more like someone's appartment is much nicer. This trip I was located in a Premier Deluxe on the 36th floor with views out over the harbour to the East and Darling Harbour to the West. The room had a separate lounge/kitchenette area, with washer and dryer hidden away in a cupboard. There was a study alcove with desk and plenty of space and the main bedroom was spacious with an ample sized bathroom.

What's hot? The location is great and central with access to most of the city with a 15 minute walk. There is a railway station within a 5 minutes mostly underground walk. Restaurants nearby include Chinese, Japanese, French and Spanish - pretty much anything you could want really. Coffee shops and bars are all close. Staff are generally very friendly and very helpful and it's more personal than a large hotel. The gym is very big with decent equipment and there is a GREAT lap pool and spa. The hotel and rooms are all modern and well equipped.

What's not so hot? My rate included internet which worked well but was cumbersone to connect - you had to phone concierge, who had to phone you back with a code. Why not give you that on check-in? The shower was good - but in sore need of repair, with tiles coming loose on the floor. On the weekends you may have to put up with large groups and the odd noisy room - probably because the Suites are more catering to the weekday business crowd and they are much cheaper than a hotel.

Generally sound this property gets a Very Good rating because it's far cheaper than a hotel and has bigger and more comfortable rooms. Nice staff and a good location especially if you are a tourist.

Room Tip: Premier Deluxe - corner rooms with good views. Ask for the higher floors.

On a business trip, this was not a good place to stay. Longer term stays may be reasonable. It is like a motel with maid service in office hours only, paid for Internet not working and no free alternative, no pressing service or other amenities. The bed was so soft that you effectively are on the floor. Even after a long trip from Asia it was not a restful stay.

This is a hidden gem in Sydney which I will share because I'm a nice person. The view, standard of room, pool/ gym and service were fantastic! Wish I had a place like this but will keep dreaming. Some great new restaurants and bars next door too so try it :)

This hotel is very stylish with modern facilties. I have stayed here twice now and both times the rooms have been reasonably large, and very clean.

The only negative was that I wanted to order room service at about 2pm and was told that room service wasn't available until 6pm.

Thr rooms and location were brilliant, the staff and service were ok.

Fraser Suites is right in the heart of Sydney, 5 minutes walk to Darling harbour, 5 minutes to cinemas & theatres, and 2 minutes to Town Hall station. Comfortable & clean rooms but ours had unusual light switch setup where it was either all on or all off! Lovely view out to east & Blue Mts. Plenty of cafes & resaurants nearby.
