WOW! After 23 hours of travelling, losing an entire day (thanks time differences!) and all round exhaustion arriving at Floriana (the easiest place to find from Cairns airport too) was just a welcome haven of peace. John was waiting for us (depsite it being early in the morning) and was able to help us settle in. The villa was great...two bedrooms, two bathrooms, huge kitchen / living area, great balcony overlooking the esplanade and sea...just everything we wanted for our holiday of a lifetime. The children loved the plunge pool and we've been able to use the BBQ area most evenings. We also used the single room apartment for my Dad, which he also loved. Everything he needed, with plenty of space and a huge balcony also with sea views. Can't recommend it enough, everyone should stay here!!

We were travelling with another couple, so booked a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment for a week. We were warmly welcomed, and offered every assistance to get settled and find our way around Cairns. The apartment was gorgeous! Spacious and airy, with a huge kitchen and a nice view across the park to the ocean. Everything we needed, plus lots of special touches were thoughtfully provided. There was even a garage available if we had had a car. It was about a 15 to 20 minute walk into town - just a pleasant stroll, although there is a bus stop right in front if you want it.

The only downside was the occasional noise from the rescue helicopter, which lands nearby. As it doesn't last long, or happen too often, it didn't bother us.

The hosts are lovely people; they couldn't have been more helpful. Highly recommended!

2 bedroom villa on the 1st floor. We needed room for family of 4 with 2 older "kids". Brilliant position right opposite the Esplanade walk (a very busy spot with Cyclists, Pedestrians and Runners at all times of night. Plenty of circulation throughout given the warm climate. We were welcomed by John and guided through the apartment with aplomb. He would not be onsite for the weekend, however all alternative arrangements were at hand. Plenty of space with 2 bathrooms and toilets, grand kitchen and dining area, and even a study nook if you felt the need. Only a couple of small items. The apartment is obviously a renovation from something reasonably older so some design flaws were evident (eg. main bedroom was not entirely enclosed so there remained some open areas where noise could be shared). The ensuite was also very open with no enclosure of the bath and toilet area from the main bedroom itself (no issue for us, just putting it out there if you need to be very private from your partner/sleeping companion).

Aircon is provided as are ceiling fans, and we had no issues with WIFI connectivity. Although the kitchen is fully self-contained, supermarkets are not common in Cairns (eg NO ALDI if you are that way inclined). There is a 24hr Supermarket about 500m away on Sheridan St. John was more than happy to direct us. Otherwise the apartments are about a 2km from Woolies in Cairns City.

Pool area is excellent with BBQ facilities and a shadesail for comfort. With the Esplanade park over the road, there is an excellent opportunity for a good walk/run/ride.

The building is also under the southside Airport Flight path, but we really weren't disturbed as we were out for most days during peak times.

For the price, this is a bargain if you need the room.

Tips - For a shortcut through to Lake St, walk towards the hospital main entrance and walk through the garden area. For espresso heads, a Bodum is supplied and the nearer coffee shops are not conveniently open until 0830 on weekends so be prepared to walk or prepare the bodum. If you prefer to have no car, take the Airport Shuttle to Tobruk Pool as the walk to the apartments is shorter than the walk from town, If you do arrive earlier than 2pm/1400, call John as the room may be available earlier (unfortunately we missed this opportunity and found ourselves walking aimlessly in 32deg heat for a few hours). If you are considering a meal at the closest local (ie Cock n Bull), feel free to read my review also.

We chose this apartment based on the photos and proximity to the city. The apartment was beautiful with large airy rooms. We had a balcony where we had most of our evening meals. It was lovely to sit there with a glass of wine - the perfect place to relax. We decided not to hire a car. This worked well because it was an easy stroll into the city through parkland around the waterfront. We joined lots of locals doing the same, so we always felt safe. We had a lovely walk to the Cairns Botanic Gardens and a memorable boat trip to Green Island. The Kick Arts Gallery had lots of fantastic local Art work. The owners were great hosts and helped to make this a memorable holiday.

Room tip: We stayed in a two bedroom upstairs apartment. The balcony was great for evening meals.

Located on the esplanade (view of Bay) just north of Cairns Hospital, easy walking distance to Muddys' playground for early morning coffee. Much larger than I expected, huge well appointed kitchen, 3 eating areas, Comfortable lounge, 2 large bedrooms each with own bathroom and secure parking!! Other features that were important to us were a Spa Bath and a Pool (saltwater). Hosts were fantastic!! Hoping they can accommodate me again on my next trip to Cairns!!

Room tip: First floor would have better views and less noise if upstairs occupants are in the habit of walking up and down in the middle of the night.
