Well worth the short drive of 15 mins North of Cairns to stay in a quiet, well serviced and Exceptionally Clean Amenities Facility. Situated along a river in a quiet area we were also pleasantly surprised to find a Great Italian Restaurant just next door for an evening meal. We have stayed at quite a few Caravan / Tourist Parks over the years and we would have to stay this Park provides the Cleanest and Well Maintained Amenitiy Complex we have come across.

Hi Wade,
Thanks for your great comments, we like the best park in Oz comment, our staff work very hard to maintain a high standard throughout the whole park and it is great to hear you appreciated this.

Stayed for 2 nights. We chose this park as it was out of town (Cairns) and surrounded by native bush and mountain range. Perfect spot!
Beautifully maintained Amenities, gardens etc.
The only thing I found strange is the layout of the park.
Smaller vans and campers were positioned in smaller sites in a row - which is fine.
However, all the big rigs and large vans were on bigger sites which were all positioned directly opposite and nearest the Amenities block (bizarre as all of them would have ensuites in them) and they also had exterior lighting down their row which meant that the smaller vans without ensuite were furthest away from the Amenities block with no outside lighting.
Wonderfully quiet of a night
Office staff fabulous
Highly recommend

We got a double cabin, they don't look like much from the outside but on the inside they are good. Modern and clean and really reasonably priced. The only problem we had was the people in the cabin behind us played loud music and sang loudly until the early hours of the morning, I could only find a park emergency contact no not an after hours number. I did want to ring and complain about the noise level but wasn't sure whether they would be annoyed if it wasn't an emergency so I didn't. Maybe they could provide an after hours no.

Hi Mildygal1. So sorry to hear you had noisy neighbours, any noise after 10pm is not acceptable. The emergency number showing on the Park map is the number to use after the reception is closed. We are more than happy to remedy any situation when needed.

- We stayed at a powered site which was surrounded by butterfly attracting gardens which was a bonus. The site had just enough room for our camper van but it was good enough space.

- Amenities were spotless and comfortable

- Water pressure in shower was good

- Pool was large and set in amongst beautiful gardens

- Pool closing time (9pm is really good!)

- Kitchen - we didn't use (as we were on our last night of our holiday and just wanted to find some where to eat) but is really modern, spacious, outdoor (but under cover) with lovely dining furniture and it looked like a really enjoyable place to eat.

- The BBQs looked really good also

- The park is quiet and all the other people staying there and the staff were friendly

- The power went out in half the park and the management responded as quick as possible and updated everyone affected which was really good. The electrician came and fixed the issue within 1 hour.

- The park is located close to the Sky Rail and the Barron River in a peaceful area

The only thing I found which was off-putting was that the tourist park does not supply recycling bins, only rubbish bins. Sustainability is an important value that I have and I think that all accommodation and hospitality businesses should prioritise sustainability as many businesses such as tourism/accommodation/hospitality businesses cater for large numbers of people and should be more environmentally responsible. There is already enough waste that goes to landfill and we shouldn't be unnecessarily adding to that waste in this day and age in a country that has (or is working out ways, since China began refusing our recycling) the capacity to manage our own recycling. There is no sound reason why any caravan park should not offer recycling bins. Clear signage to ensure people used the bins responsibly would help as well (if you do have recycling bins - ie. to only put cans, bottles, paper etc in and not mixed rubbish).
I won't be visiting Far North Queensland again for at least a couple of years and would love to come back to this tourist park in the future and it would be a more attractive place to stay if they do provide recycling bins in the future.

Hi Katrina, Thanks for your helpful review, the park has been waiting for our local recycling station to provide recycle bins, which we now have in place. We agree that the world has enough rubbish and anyway that recyclable products can be reused is to be encouraged. See you in a couple of years.
