Harbour Lights apartments have everything for a luxurious holiday in the most convenient part of Cairns. We had a two bedroom apartment on the 11th floor which had a security card to enter the foyer, to use the elevator and for parking. There is a security door on the apartment which lets in a lovely cool cross breeze if you don’t want the air con on. Quality appliances, microwave, dishwasher, washer-dryer and ice maker and iced water on tap in the fridge. Queen sized beds were comfortable and plenty of spare pillows and with the bedroom door closed at night there was no outside noise.. The view was so good it was hard to drag yourself away to enjoy the pool or take a stroll around the board walk right on the marina. Even the complementary toiletries were excellent quality. A first class restaurant, Dundees is situated in the complex. All staff particularly reception were friendly and helpful. The man made beach was a short walk away as was the shopping strip.
The only thing we were not sure of was the air con. It was a bit cool even though the temperature was at 24 deg.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view. We over-looked Shangri La resort and the pool.

Stayed a few nights for holidays. Room was spacious, clean and with a lovely outlook! Terrific location on the Esplanade with access to everything in downtown Cairns. Didn't try the pool, though. I recommend it.

We stayed for 1 night on our way home from Port Douglas as we had a flight to catch the next morning. We had a studio room (no kitchen, but tea/coffee making facilities). Room had a little desk with a modem for internet (extra cost). Bed was excellent. Bedding was clean and fresh. Towels were large and fluffy (3 towels for 2 people ... thank you for that extra towel). Although the room was not large, it was more than comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the marina. Bathroom was great, shower size is really good, and water pressure great. Staff were excellent on check in and check out. Location is good, almost opposite the casino, right at the marina. restaurant undernesth were great, we ate at two of them - Olando's Bar & restaurant for lunch and Meccabah for dinner. Both were good. We would definately stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a two bedroom apartment. The apartment was lovely and had a great view of the marina, it was well furnished, clean and very modern. The complex was well kitted out with a Pool, Jacuzzi and Gym. The apartment balcony was very spacious and was great for sitting out on at night and watching the planes land at the airport.

The location of Harbour Lights is great, it is close to a number of really nice restaurants and only a short walk to the City Centre.

We only had a few issues with the apartment, these being a draw which was broken in one of the bedrooms and a few ants in the kitchen.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Cairns then this is the place!

The HarbourLights complex is huge, part residence, part hotel/apartments. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment overlooking the marina. Check-in was handled by the visitor center across the street, but we also received pleasant assistance and greetings from the hotel front desk.

For the life of me, I couldn't tell the difference between what was part of the hotel and what belonged to the apartment side. The residence side of the complex is clearly marked and separated by gates -- most obviously at the fouth floor rooftop pool. The common pool area included BBQs, patio space overlooking the casino, and an indoor fitness room.

Our room, number 310, had a spectacular view of the marina -- and I had expected a garden or Hilton-view room, so I was completely blown away. The room itself is quite spacious and was well-equipped. There was a mini-kitchen with sink, small refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher and quick-heating electric kettle (no oven). The unit also included a utility sink and separate washer and dryer. We made and ate all of our dinners in the apartment.

The furnishings were simple, but clean and comfortable. Everything looked well-kept and fairly new. There was plenty of storage both in the bedroom, linen closet and kitchen cupboards. We were very comfortable at the HarbourLights and enjoyed our stay immensely.

The only downside was the unfortunate placement of slatted shutter doors between the bathroom and the bedroom. I don't care how great the view is, if you're sharing the room with someone and you need to look through the bedroom from the toilet, there needs to be more privacy! The view from the bedroom to the toilet is completely unnecessary.

Housekeeping service in the apartments is only on the third day of a five-night stay, so during our three-night stay we did not receive housekeeping, but this wasn't really a problem.

Service at check-in was pleasant and friendly and they were very knowledgeable about tours and activities (they even arranged for the reservation of an underwater digital camera for our snorkel excursion). However, before the end of our stay, our room ran out of toilet paper. We called to request more and were told they were sure we had enough for our stay, but they would "send somebody to check." Nobody came... This was where the hotel front desk stepped in: Without hassle or questioning of where we were staying (hotel vs. apartment), they provided us with more toilet paper. What a relief!

If ever in Cairns again I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the HarbourLights, whether it be the hotel side or the "luxury apartments" side. I would even request room 310 again.

Room Tip: Book early!
