Visited as a part of the Cairns City bike tour, from the external St. Monica's doesn't look particularly amazing but internally it is a different story. The stained glass windows tell the story of creation using the reef and landscape as its setting. There is also reference to the Battle of the Coral Sea from WW2. Well worth visiting.
