We left dinner at Sublime sure we would not eat again for days after the amount of food we ate here. The food was very good but there was so much of it that I was ready to explode. We had the tasting plate for starters and our mistake was ordering it for 2 when there would have been enough for both of us if we had ordered it for 1. It had 3 dips and bread on it along with cold meats such as salami, chorizo and prosciutto there was also smoked salmon, feta, anchovies, pickled artichokes, mushrooms, grilled polenta and sundried tomatoes. I'm sure I've missed a few things but there was so much that we were full after the entree. The waiter did ask us if we were very hungry when we ordered it but I have always found that when waiters say the meal is quite large they never turn out to be, so it was our fault for doubting him. We both had the barramundi for mains and managed to eat most of it but could not even contemplate dessert. The waiter was very friendly and kept our water glasses full without being intrusive. I would definitely go again.

This cosy eatery is one of Port Douglas’ best kept secrets. Most tourists check out the eateries on Macrossan Street and we were no different, however we noticed a sign advertising Sublime opposite our accommodation and decided to venture over to Peppers to trial there lunch menu. Fresh, beautifully presented and well priced. Beautiful location beside the beach poolside. We then decided it was so good we went back for a dinner; again we were not disappointed. Special mention to Dan our waiter on both occasions, he was very welcoming, helpful and attentive without being intrusive (some waiters are almost leech like but Dan has the right balance). Most waiters are good but it is when things go wrong that the better ones step up and Dan did. After we were back at our accommodation we realised that we had been overcharged. Dan investigated and followed through, as promised the next day, to ensure we were kept informed about the progress of a refund to our credit card and he kept to his word.
