One of the few places we repeated in Port Douglas. Had a late family lunch with three children and dinner on another night. Food was terrific, recommend the red claw linguini and the barramundi tempura, pictured below. Children also liked barramundi from the kids menu and the coloring materials!

Service was great for the late lunch as the place was empty and suffered a bit with delays on the night we had dinner when the house was full. Good idea to make a reservation for peak hours.

Food - amazing. Service - attentive and spot on. Very good set up and would definitely recommend, HOWEVER:

May I suggest you ask your staff not to explain out how to tip when customers pay with a credit card. This was an embarrassing and awkward way to end an otherwise perfect meal. This is not America, I don't need to tell you that we don't tip in Australia. If someone does want to tip, that info is printed inside the bill folder.

Amend that, and you're 10/10.

Dinner - met up with another couple who had rcommended it. The quality of food is ok but frankly it trades on its reputation and found to be expensive for what it was. Comparable meals can be found elsewhere in Port Douglas along Macrossan Street.
The restaurant was nois and we had a long wait before our order was taken - longer wait for starters to arrive. Staff not on the ball and are clearly lacking any form of management supervision. The manager seems more interested in looking at personal mobile phone than watching what was happening..
Very unprofessional when meals arrived haphazardly with not all four arriving in quick succession. Hard to ask a colleague to start eating.
Frustrating also when plates are quickly whipped away individually as soon as knife & fork hit the plate. Sweet orders being asked for when main dishes still being eaten !
All round pretty average,

Everyone recommended we try Salsa Bar and Grill when they heard we were going to Port Douglas, definitely a must. Booking is a good idea, we went on a week night in the low season and it was completely full. Great range of cocktails moderately priced. On our table we had for entree the dips and the pate (sooo tasty I couldn't stop eating it!) for mains the seafood jambalaya, duck, fish special and gnocchi all great and because it was a birthday they put together a dessert with sparklers for us and didn't charge us extra for it! Next time we go to Port Douglas we will be dining there again, would recommend to everyone.
