you have to respect a restaurant which has been established over 50 years.
Altough we received mixed reviews from the locals we decided Nautilus was a must try in Port Douglas.
The service was first class and the setting is great in the canopy.
The food was very good, although a couple of dishes on the degustation menu missed the mark a little.
Definitely a must go to though.

We've eaten at Nautilus on both of our trips to Port Douglas and loved it both times. The food was fantastic, as was the service. The outdoor rainforest setting is so unique and greatly enhances the overall experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're visiting Port D.

I recently spent a week in Port Douglas and went to every notable restaurant in town. Nautilus was the best without doubt. Quality of food was faultless, surroundings and seating were comfortable and spacious. Service was attentive and knowledgable. Prices reasonable for the quality. Do not hesitate to book well in advance. It is a quiet relaxed fine dining restaurant in a magnificent outdoor setting (with large mechanical protective covers available). NB-mosquitos can be a slight bother despite the restaurant placing repellant under the table. As for the negative reviews I read on this site before deciding to book, I am simply flabbergasted that anyone could genuinely hold such views.

Had the seven course degustation menu with matching wines - fantastic if u have the time. What an amazing atmosphere - towering pines, felt right on the middle of a rain forest. Lots of candlelight flickering in the breeze. Not cheap and not Jacques reymond standard but fantastic nonetheless. Worth a visit!

Tranquil location with friendly staff who are well trained in fine dining service. Would be considered expensive however for a special occassion is well worth the outlay
