“Great Location, Exceptional Value & Awesome Staff!”
Reviewed 10 October 2011

I am not normally the type of person to write reviews, however felt the need to share my thoughts on our recent vacation to the Gold Coast.

My partner & I recently stayed at the Aegean for the first time and it was so good that we didn't want to come home. We arrived earlier than expected and it was at least 4 hours until check in and the staff were kind enough to let us go to our room as it was ready.

The amenities were clean, we had enough starter items to allow us to settle in before going shopping to purchase what we needed for our stay. The kitchen was fabulous and as a career chef I can say that for holiday makers, it is more than enough to cook yourself a fabulous meal "at home". The washing machine and dryer were excellent and the bathrooms were great as well.

The security of the building is spot onand the staff were exceptional in dealing with any questions that we had.

My only slight quip was that we kept playing carpark tag with other residents parking in our allocated carpark. My partner and I both agree that as a point of constructive criticism, the carpark numbers should reflect rooms numbers to avoid confusion. We mentioned this to reception and in a sense feel sorry for them having to herd unruly, lazy adults who cannot be bothered to park where they are told.

Overall, we stayed here for 4 days and will definitely be returning in a few weeks time as we are buying a restaurant on the Gold coast and will use the Aegean until we organise a permanent home.

In short, the Aegean is comfortable, safe and great value for money.
I cannot think of any other place that feels like a home away from home!

Thank You Aegean for making our stay memorable and see you again soon!

My family and I love the Aegean and this is the second time we have stayed there.
Although the Aegean looks a bit dated, the apartments are spacious, clean and its location prefect - close to the beach and town centre which is really convenient.

We stayed in two 2 bed apartments for the first night and the 3 bedroom apartment for the rest of our stay. One of the two bedroom apartments had been refurbished and the other had not. Both were fine but the refurbished one was fresher and more modern.
The three bed apartment was amazing ….really really lovely. We want to make this our family holiday apartment every year. This apartment was refurbished, modern and lovely. We stayed with 4 adults and 2 kids and there was heaps of room.
The staff were really nice and helpful and answered all our tourist questions!

Love Love the Aegean and will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: Request a refurbished apartment if you prefer one thats more modern and less dated

Location is perfect within walking distance of all the food places, beach, cavill ave. Just perfect. The room was extremely impressive and as a business man I like the finer things of life. We stayed on the top floor and our view looked the main area of Gold Coast, overlooking beaches and all the way down. We have now stayed several times and in various apartments all have been very modern and extremely well layed out. I have now stayed there every visit for last 2 years. Just make sure the girls know the style of apartment you are after and they will do there best to accomodate you. We have stayed at many apartments around Gold Coast and this is still one of my favourites not only for business, but my wife spends alot of time in unit and is pleasure too.

Room Tip: Ask for apartments that have been updated and rooms with A or B overlook Surfers and beach and room...

Four of us shared a two bedroom apartment on the 16th floor. Check in fast and friendly and our apartment was ready even though we arrived early. Well appointed with comfortable furniture, large kitchen, lounge and dinning, although could use a bit of maintenance on the balcony doors as they were very hard to open. Lovely views of ocean and through to the Hinterland. Close to restaurants, supermarket and Cavill Avenue. A very pleasant stay and will be on our list to stay again.

We had an excellent stay and the accomodation and location was terrific.
It was clean, roomy and well appointed. The balconies and views were great and its proximity to everything on the Gold Coast was perfect.
We will definitely stay at the Aegean again.

Room Tip: The upper floors have great views

We arrived at the Aegean after many hours of travelling - everything was locked up and hidden behind a construction fence, and it took over 15 minutes standing in the cold until another tenant let us in. We were given instructions to a security safe where we got a letter of apology for not being met, together with our keys. Initially a good reaction to the rooms, but found the best thing about them was the fantastic view - but no access to the balcony was allowed while painting and maintenance was being carried out Monday - Saturday, and no access to the outdoor pool. No advance warning, and no reduction in the tariff. The indoor pool, spa and sauna however compensated. As our stay progressed we found reception was manned 9 - 2 during the weekends, and 9 - 5 during the week - nothing more. There were some basic provisions in the room, but only enough for the first day in terms of tea, coffee, soap, toilet roll and dishwashing liquid. First stop the supermarket! Location is great, and transport close by, but generally I think there are far better properties on offer within the same location. Surfers Paradise is just that, and a great place for a family holiday with reasonably good weather - travellers though can pick and choose at this time of the year, and at the tail end of the recession I feel there are far betteroptions than the Aegean. If you want a regularly serviced, well equipped apartment, this is not for you!

Room Tip: Just ask.

Aegean1, Guest Relations Manager at Aegean Apartments, responded to this review, 19 June 2011
In response to comments made 18th June, it is disappointing that you did not see the clearly marked signs giving directions for late arrivals. Similar to most other high rise holiday apartments on the Gold Coast, we provide a security safe for late arrivals with clearly marked instructions. There is always 24 hour access to the manager or night service.
It is pleasing that you had a good reaction to the rooms and the fantastic views. The size of the well equipped apartments, the views and the great location that is our best asset.
Due to the refurbishment of the building, balconies were unavailable until 4pm Mon-Fri which is listed on our website with our apologies for the inconvenience as an advanced warning. As you booked off our website, the information was readily available. Due to the refurbishment, our cheapest tariffs have been on offer during this time. The refurbishment will be completed by the start of July and will reveal a stunning transformation.
It is good to here that the great indoor heated pooll and spa helped to compensate (not forgetting the Gym).
Reception hours are from 8.30am - 5.00pm weekdays, 9.00am - 2.00pm on the weekends, However, there is always 24hour management on site to deal with any emergencies. These hours are the general hours used in most accommodation houses.
Most apartments on the Gold Coast are not serviced daily as they are self-contained, however, this could have been provided for you had you requested it (a fee applies). Hotels do provide a daily service for Hotel rooms only and are not self contained apartments.
We provide a complimentary starter pack for your convenience allowing you time to shop for your stay. The Aegean is located close to supermarkets and other conveniences.
On your departure, it was disappointing to find the room was left in a state that required a lot of extra cleaning and maintenance from the damage that had been caused during your stay.

We (my wife and two kids) were in Gold Coast and stayed there for a week and it was fun-tastic..... The Aegean was perfectly located and was close to Cavell Street (the most happening street in gold coast) and restaurtants, bar and shopping area all around it......
We were also very close to the main bus stops which took us to the currimbin forest santuary and many other attractions....
Do not miss the theme parks if you are with your kids take the the family pass valid for unlimited enteries for a month and its cheaper than buying an individual tickets to the theme parks.
The outback spectacular was awesome... worth a visit..... the ticket includes three course meal and drinks.
The Aegean is a great hotel but the only draw back is the house keeping was done once in 7 days...and there was painting job been done outside our room and the painters arrived early morning at 7am that disturbed our sleep........that was the only draw back it had but rest of every thing was perfect.
Thanks Trip Adviser for making my trip to Australia unmistakeable and worth every penny....God Bless
