I arranged a special day for a group of friends -mainly for one turning forty and was over from NZ. The day spa was fantastic, couldn’t fault the massage we had!
Unfortunately part of the deal was lunch at Little Collins kitchen. The staff made the whole experience very awkward. As soon as the menus were put down they said part of the package is you can only have a main and no sides but that doesn’t include the steak which left us with 4 options to choose from. (This not outlined on their web site)
One friend is pregnant and she wanted the steak as none of the other options suited but was more than happy to pay the extra. Not an option but luckily the chef had a minute steak that he was happy to cook for her... Wouldn’t you just agree if someone offered to pay? The next thing one of the friends asked for a sparkling water, the reply was you only get one free drink with your meal - do you want to pay for the water or the wine?!
The rest of us ordered the 17 hour slow cooked lamb. This should fall apart and melt in your mouth if it had been cooked for that long, we think it had only been in for a few hours.
For the extra money it cost us and the very awkward atmosphere they generated, I wouldn’t recommend the lunch.
